Belgian visiting Texas and Wisconsin

I think you should come over! Join the party! I suspect we get enough of Vaughan’s clients to arrive, we can probably force him to visit from Zim too.
That would be awesome!
Getting the camp sharing initiative off the ground :)

Sounds like good fun will be had happy planning guys.
I have a spent a few days here in Africa and Belgium with Vertigo he is not that bad you will get by. :LOL: :ROFLMAO:
I'll second that. That said he still has to make the voyage north.

No pressure :A Whistle:

Shoot me an address by DM.. I'll send you up some authentic Memphis dry rub from a place that will knock your socks off..

Charlie Vergos Rendezvous serves what are probably the most perfect dry rub pork ribs on the planet..

Carolina, KC, etc.. will argue (rightfully so) that their pulled pork is better.. everyone has a preference..

But no one is crazy enough to argue that there is a better dry rub rib than can be found at Rendezvous, Corkys, Central BBQ, Cozy Corner, etc.. Most of those places have been around anywhere from 50-75 years and are still family owned/operated businesses that have been passed down 3-4 generations..

You might get shot visiting some of the restaurants.. a couple of the most famous places are in very bad parts of town... but.... the BBQ is worth it... :D :D :D
I’ll agree with this. I risk getting shot every time I’m in Memphis for some BBQ.

When you said southeast I thought you were gonna bring Alabama and their white sauce into the equation.

All this BBQ talk is making me hungry

That white sauce ain’t bbq. KC burnt ends, Texas Brisket, St Louis ribs or bust (although I have a soft spot for South Cackalacky mustard based bulled pork). Memphis sweet sauce gets my blood sugar up too much, but their dry rub is good enough to get shot over.

@VertigoBE too bad, I will have to wave as you fly by on your way to Yankee hell. :LOL: Btw you need to try Dogfish Head 120min IPA.

Sorry @rookhawk, but Big Wisci is not my favorite (except for cheese curds and the Brewers’ ballpark). Also, y’all are forgetting Colt 45 malt liquor and Natty Light.

@Wyatt Smith you haven’t visited since I lived in the people’s socialist republic of Illinois. You should probably drive on up through the cheddar curtain for the dinner party with Jurgen this June! You can’t believe how nice the air smells when you’re on I90 and you pass through South Beloit and start smelling the sweet scent of Wisconsin versus the burning sulfur of Illinois! :ROFLMAO:
June is pretty touch and go for me, right in the farming season. It sounds like a good time and I’ll see what I can do.

Well, you know where you need to be in June!
I really wish I could, but hopefully that day I’ll be waist deep, wading through a swamp, stalking up to a buffalo with my Westley Double Rifle, and can send y’all a wonderful video and couple of photos of the 119yo girl back in action

I'm starting to get excited guys! Almost as much as leaving on a safari.
Just one more month to get to meet all of you!
Thrilled that @rookhawk set all this up for me :)

Great anticipation of a big trip is always a big part of the adventure.

@VertigoBE - I hope you have a wonderful trip. Wish I didn't have a work trip or I'd fly in for the dinner.

Well, in case your work trip gets postponed, I’d sure be glad to meet you in real life after all those chats we had!

Not sure if mentioned via all the bbq discussions but need to visit Gordy & Sons for a nice gun store visit. Fairly close to where you will be staying in Houston.

While in Texas get some proper Tex-mex food. Ninfa’s in Houston used to be good but I haven’t been there in years.

As for beer you can’t go to Texas and not try a Shiner Bock. A darker beer still light enough to drink in the Texas heat.

AH cohorts, would you please PM me if you are planning to attend Jurgen's BBQ on Saturday, June 6th. We'll be eating a myriad of BBQ recipes from throughout the USA that day and celebrating our friend from Belgium, @VertigoBE

What I intend to bring, is on a whole other level though, as it is basically unobtainium:

Westvleteren 12, a trappist brewed in a Roman Catholic Abbey

I just checked ebay... people are only selling empty bottles of this... or the bottle caps alone... or even the crate it comes in...

There are only two places in the world where you can buy this officially. At the Abbey itself, where you need to register for a spot (like trying to get rock concert tickets), to be allowed to buy 2 cases max, linked to your vehicle license plate. Or in the next door restaurant. Everywhere else is grey market, not permitted by the monks.
I drink this a couple of times year, here in Germany.

I don't understand why people think it is better than some of the Poxx Brau beers here, but it's in the high 9's out of 10.

@John the Electrician
@Kurt Swanson
@375er
@Jagerrand
@Badjer
@franzfmdavis
@Wyatt Smith
@Wahoo

Gents above and anyone else reading this, please confirm your attendance for @VertigoBE's BBQ party on Saturday, June 6th at 4pm. Location is in Martell, WI just south of Baldwin, WI on the I94 corridor.

Please PM me your RSVP and how many + guests so I can provide directions to all of you and to properly estimate food.

Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible!
I'm looking forward to meeting all of you! Thanks again @rookhawk for organizing this!

Safe travels!

I lived in Houston off and on for 25 years between 1986 and 2021, and grew up in Wisconsin and lived there while at University after the Marines.

Two fine places to visit...although Houston is best between December and February!!!

See you are from Denmark - see quite a few Danes where I stalk in Scotland - great hunters.
The Harkilia stuff works well in Africa - I have a bit for use here in UK.
I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands. If anyone happens to have a set of 600 Nitro Dies that will fit my Rockchucker Supreme RCBS press, please shoot me a message and thanks in advance for any assistance you may have to offer!
I have not posted any items for sale on this forum and will not every put anything for sale. My account was hacked and I've worked with the admin to get things shut down.
