It pains me to sell this rifle but I have an opportunity to purchase a left handed model 70 that doesn’t happen every day. This thing will most likely collect dust afterwards and I’d rather see someone else enjoy it.

Round top pre warning MK1 chambered in .270 Winchester, it’s wearing the factory Ruger open sights. This rifle has exceptional wood for an old tang safety, while it’s not exhibition grade it does have some good feather and figure in the grain. I stripped off the factory varnish and finished it with a hand rubbed tung oil finish which really complimented the grain.

The scope is a Leupold 2.5-8x36 Vari X iii from the early 2000’s in Talley rings and bases. The rings are lapped, stock has been skim bedded by previous owner, it also has a Rifle Basix RU-T sear which gave the trigger a much better feel and breaks right at about 3lbs.

This rifle will shoot about an inch with most 130 grain projectiles but tends to like factory Barnes 130 grain TTSX and factory Nosler 150 grain Accubonds. There is very little if any blemishes to the stock, bluing, or scope. It weighs 8.25 lbs on my scale with sling. Sling is not included. I will not separate the scope please do not ask. I can’t remember offhand how much 270 ammo I have with it but I’ll include that as well (about 5-7 boxes of nosler and Barnes IIRC)

$1000 and you’ll be the second coming of Jack O’Connor. Price includes shipping in a hard case. I have Venmo, Zelle and Cash app, I’m a business owner and am setup to take credit cards for a more secure transaction. I live in central Washington and regularly travel the entire state, i90 east to about Bozeman, and dip into Boise occasionally if you’d prefer to do an in person transaction or in person dealer transfer depending on local laws. Pm me for any inquiries or additional questions.

Nice looking rifle. What LH Model 70 are you looking at? GLWS

There’s a classic sporter in 30-06 on GB right now… I’ve been looking for one for a long time but it’s always been 7mm & 338 magnums that pop up for the most part.

Those LH 30-06 and 270 are hard to find in Model 70s, hope the auction works out for you. I took my LH M70 in 30-06 to Zimbabwe this year and it preformed wonderfully.

No longer available. I spotted an ever elusive left hand Stainless Laminate Hawkeye in 25-06 on GB and the seller was willing to make a trade . A guy had been searching for that exact rifle for months! Thanks for everyone’s interest!

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR MY RIFLE, ALWAYS APPROACH A NEW LOAD CAUTIOUSLY!!*
Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
