I have used the 156 Grain Norma Oryx and 160 Grain Swift A-Frames in my 275 / 7x57 with great results. Looking into the Barnes line I understand high velocity equates to reliable opening of the bullet. Does the stated lower velocity requirements for the LRX over TTSX/TSX produce better results opening out of the 7x57 of thin / medium skinned game (whitetail) 100-250 yards? I am pushing the 156 Grain Oryx at little over 2600FPS with perfect results. My concern with Barnes and the 7x57 is I might not have enough velocity for reliable opening. Does anyone have LRX experience with the 7x57?

I have not loaded any of the 145 LRX, though I have some to load for various 7mms.
I don't think 250 yds would be an issue. Even if you are running a 2500 fps muzzle velocity, you are still going to be a little above 2050 fps at 250 yards.

If I ever get around to hand-loading for my 7x57 Ruger round top I am going to try loads in between the 7x57 and 7mm-08.

In my opinion, modern rifles in the 7x57
should have no issue with 7mm-08 velocities. And still be a mild shooting rifle.
As they use to do with the 257 Roberts maybe still do; there should be +P loads for the 7x57.

I haven’t loaded the 145gr LRX, but I have used the 140gr TSX out of a 7mm-08 (18.5” barrel) @ 2665 fps. No issues with expansion or penetration on deer at ~200 yds.

Hi EGS

I read your thread with interest. Would you mind sending me that PDF? May I put it on my website?
