I was reading African X mag and found an article about Bailey Bradshaw falling block double rifles. Also looked at his web site. Has anyone had any experience with these doubles?

According to the web site they seem very reasonably priced ( $8500 for DG calibers up to 500 NE).

I have been talking to Baily since his first pieces were show to the DRSS members at the DSC show three or four years ago. Thise first pieces were CNC cut from wood, and were 22 lR size!

I have handled about every rifle he's made since that time, and let me tell you his rifles are top of the line, and you $8K price is his starting price for field grade rifles, and is a bargain that is very hard to pass. He will have a booth at the Dallas Safari Club show in January and it would be a very good idea to make that show if you are intrested in one of his rifles. He usually has a SHOW PRICE for rifles ordered at the show! This guy is not only a master gun maker, but a veryu goiod engraver, and a very nice person on top of all that!

I have just ordered a Bradshaw falling block double in .375 Flanged.
Hoppfullt I Will have it my hands close to christmas.
So excited.
Would really like some more comments about the action.

That Christmas time frame might be very optimistic. A local friend has had one on order for some time and it's just being started.
But from what I've heard and the ones shown on the web, it'll be worth the wait. Hopefully his new 450 NE will be delivered before the fall hunting season.

Maybe it was christmas 2015 ;)
Anyway, there is not much written about the double.
I havent found anything about anyone using it or hunted with it.
I am convinced that it is a great weapon and that the craftmanship is outstanding.

There are some already in service. I know of a Damascus framed 22 hornet and a 6.5X65? that I was offered.
If you manage to get it by 2015 you'll be a happy camper with the rifle.

The prices started at $8000 for the basic model, just had a look now and they're sitting at $12 500... Is this kind of escalation normal????

Go buy a Merkel double.. good well made working rifle.. ...really don't see the point of a double falling block rifle .....or those bolt action doubles either.....

Earlier in the post he said he had ordered 375 Flanged.
Not sure if that was his final decision or not.

That is one beautiful rifle.
I love the wood.

You are off to a good start.

Any big game target is in trouble.

I have purchased Wagyu beef from Bailey and he made a quarter rib for my Hyper Single falling block. He doesn't live far from me.
He had a nice step by step build from forging his damascus to finishing his first falling block double on another forum. He made it all except the barrel blanks.

Does it selectively eject? Lack of selective ejection has been the bane of most of these designs.

You meen that if you fire just one barrel it ejects its case and not the unfired one ?
If so, I dont know. Have fired both barrels every time.
Got the rifle very late last fall and havent shot much with it yet.
Have to figure that out.

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
Thanks,
