Does anyone know ballpark about what one cost? Will SSK accept a Kimber 300 WSM as a donor action providing it works properly or Winchester only? I do like short barrel handy rifles and I'm at a crossroads. Put money into a CZ for AHR upgrade (no current issues with this rifle) or buy a B&M made from the action up. I do alot of mountain hunting and maybe this year in grizzly country, so a trim heavy hitter would be nice. Thinking something 416 cal on up. Thanks

Give SSk a call and they will be able to tell you and give you cost information and lead time on how long it will take to get your rifle back.
I have a 458B&M. @PHOENIX PHIL recommended to me a couple years ago. I had it built on a stainless WIN 70 action for a Alaska rifle.
It is a great shooting and handling little rifle that you can load anywhere from 45/70 to 458WM ballistics.

I agree with Dave, I'd give SSK a call to find out. If you don't hear something on Monday, let me know and I'll give Michael McCourry a call to find out.

Ok thanks, I was just looking for a ballpark idea on cost. Planned on sending them an email in next day or so.

Yeah sorry I can't be more specific. My .458B&M was bought from previous owner so I didn't go through the build process.

A 416 Ruger with a 20 inch barrel would seem to fit the requirement and cost under $1k. :)

For a bit more coin, there's an interesting listing on GB:

That is a nice rifle. I did forget I just bought a 375 Ruger last week that would work just fine. Put a few rounds through it and been at work since. I'm still interested in a B&M though. Seems like we all have an itch we can't get away from hu.

john.

Michael, the founder of B&M had some rifles for sale recently.
not sure if they all sold so he still may have some ready built rifles available.
you can contact him directly through the B&m web site or you are welcome to pm me and I will send you his contact details.

cheers.
Paul.

Even better if you could find one of the older Ruger M77 Alaskans with the hogue stock. They were cool little rifles and could probably be had for under $800 in .416 Ruger. My guess is that a majority of people who buy them do not fire them a lot. Recoil is pretty stout. I am one of those rare exceptions who has to load 100 rounds for mine and then burn them up over time so that I have an excuse to load 100 more:A Wacko:. I will say that the .416 Ruger is prevalent, available (components and data wise) and hits like a hammer. Loaded with 350 grain bullets it shoots just as flat as a .30-06 loaded with 180s.

For the money the Ruger can't be beat. Guess I just had my eye on something compact in 458 or 475. I emailed B&M and I'll see what SSK has to say when I get some time.

Hello Milan, I just watched your video on disassembling/reassembling the CZ 550. I have spent days looking for something like this. I now have no reservations taking apart my rifle. I like to do this with all my guns so I understand them "inside and out". Thank you very much for the information. It is greatly appreciated.
