I had an excellent hunt in January of 2025 with Seven Anchor Outfitters in Arizona. On day 3, we treed a large tom and I connected with a classic old 30-30. Shortly after returning home, I drove down to the Houston area and left the hide at Major Creations Taxidermy in Cypress, Texas. They said it would be done in about a year and true to their word, they called me last week and said the cat was done. I had to wait a few days for the icy roads to improve, but made the drive on Thursday and retrieve the mount.

I am fairly happy with the final product. David Majors has done a number of animals for me over a period of almost 20 years. One thing I wish was a little different on this mount is that is was looking downward from the limb it is resting on. It is glancing slightly upward. Having a high ceiling, I tend to mount animals above 8 feet, so a downward looking animal is my preference. It's still a beautiful addition to my man cave.

I started shifting things around a bit. Planning to have my leopard mount where that eland is located.

Fond memories of one of my favorite hunts!

It looks just Awesome!!!! Beautiful mount!!!

Congratulations! A mountain lion is on my short list. That’s just awesome and taken with a classic American firearm to boot. I love the classic Winchester 94.

Very nice!

Beautiful cat!

Get a rooster pheasant mounted in an intriguing pose and mount that above the cat making it appear that the pheasant has the cats attention.

Beautiful cat! On my bucket list as well, with plans to use the same model and caliber as you used. Congratulations!

Nice mount. I appreciate that it’s not snarling.

Well, with the current upward looking pose, it’s looking at a moose and an elk. The cat is probably thinking back to a Dirty Harry movie scene and thinking, “Do you feel lucky?” My guess is the cat would pass on a moose and elk.

I talked with the taxidermist today and told him I wasn’t happy with the pose and he said bring it back and he’ll rework it.

Nice, and good on your taxidermist on agreeing to rework the pose.

Cats are hard to get right. This one's OK but kind of has a goiter...like the neck needs to be shaved down a little.

I think you will be much happier once the pose has been modified. Good on him for agreeing to fix it.

I made the 500 mile round trip from my home to Cypress, TX (NW Houston area) to retrieve the mountain lion, for the second time.

David Majors (Major Creation Taxidermy https://www.majorcreationstaxidermy.com/ ) made the requested change, no questions asked and no additional charge.

I am much happier with the cat looking downward!
