I have used a lot of RL 16 in the 460 weatherby. It is almost identical in burn rate to H4350, but is a bit less dense. I usually have to reduce the charge by 3 or 4 grains to get the same vvelocity out of RL 16. 110 grains of H4350 and 106 grains of RL 16 give me the same.velocity in the 460.
So my idea is that with it being a bit fluffier powder I may be able to use 93 or 94 grains of it in my 470 in place of the 4350 and forego the foam wads. I was curious if anyone had used RL 16 in a 470?

I've used RL15 and RL17, I used 87 grains of RL15 and 95.5 grains of RL17, both giving me the 2150fps most rifles are regulated to.

I got some rounds loaded up 500gr Nosler Part. and some 300gr RN Silvertips. The 500’s are loaded with RL-17 and the 300’s with BL-C2. I know the Silvertips look silly but they were cheap at SPS awhile back. I did touch off 2 Silvertips out back ,but with the windchill in the -30’s this morning it was cold. I’ll wait for warmer weather to see how they work. On a side note these are loaded in Norma brass which I found weigh more than the Weatherby brass. I weighed 8 of each and it came out like this : Norma 319.7gr ave. Weatherby 308.9gr ave. , and for the heck of it 8pcs of my 3x 30-378 Weatherby brass 308.8gr ave. Go figure.
