Anyone know where to find 7x57 Solids?

I'd like to acquire some 7x57 solids of good manufacture in the 170-180 grain weight. I thought this would be prudent for use on crocs, braining hippo and for the tiny 10 in lieu of using either my 175gr partition in 7x57 or worse yet, my 500 nitro.

Woodleigh do a 140gr hydro in 7mm.

Would a Barnes TSX in 160 or 175gr work? They're bloody tough and nowhere near the cost of a hydro solid.

You might need to cast with a cu added alloy to get a good bhn without the brittlness.
I have cast with this alloy and with AC have a bhn of 25-28 after a 3-5 week aging process. This will hold together where a lino or mono primary alloy would shatter. I wouldn't have a meplat of more than about .160 for the 7mm or about 57% of bullet dia.

Barnes may have made component Banded Solids in 7mm. I know I bought some in 30 168gr. However, I cannot find anything under 9,3 caliber on the Barnes website today.

No commercial solids in those weights are available to my knowledge. You maybe able to find a custom manufacturer prepared to turn some for you but without testing for pressure etc. it maybe a risk your not prepared to take.
Load the Woodleigh 175 PPSN. I have found no evidence of expansion at 7x57 Impact Velocities. I have shot camels only slightly smaller than the one in my avatar and in the majority of cases had full penetration from those pills at impact ranges >100 paces. It is a projectile better suited to all the 7mm magnums in Imho. That's the best I can suggest.

The only issue with the Prvi Partisan full metal jacket is that they are a pointed tip rather than a round nose. Bell used a roundnose 173gr FMJ because the roundnose is less likely to be deflected inside the animal.
I think the pointed nose FMJ has the centre of gravity further back and the projectile can tumble inside the animal. The roundnose has the centre of gravity further forward and will not tumble.
Although looking at your list of animals that might not be an issue.

The 140 grain Hydro's would be my choice. You want the projectile to penetrate in a straight line, go through bone without deflecting and still do the job. I don't know if Hippo skull is honeycombed like an Elephant skull, if it is then the Hydro is the better way of dealing with that.

Gutsy to hunt hippo with 7x57 and solids. I hope it works, in theory it's a enough gun. Shot placement is everything.
