Stu Taylor was guiding Tim Herald this weekend after buffalo when one charged, provoked. As Tim backed up he tripped and discharged his .458. Luckly he had a solid in the chamber and not a soft as the damage would have been much more severe. The bullet struck Stu in his shoulder missing any vitals. Stu will survive and be ok. Tim is a seasoned hunter and has many safari under his belt. It was a tragic accident that turn out with a lot less life changing consequences than it could have. Prayers to Stu for a full recovery and to Tim to ease the nightmares that are sure to come.
So, historically speaking, which is more likely to hurt you, the animal being hunted or the people you're hunting with? This year the animals seem downright tame in comparison....... Sad indeed./
One more reason to have your insurance policies up to date. Buy travelers insurance also, the cost is minimal. I wish Stu well, and a fast recovery.
Stu was in surgery yesterday and his mom gave us an update to say that he will be fine in due course.
Buff -Buster Could you give us a follow up on Stu Taylor. How is his recovery doing. Does he have full use of his shoulder. I would hate to be shot by any gun but a .458 WOW.
Hagar - The last that I heard, Stu was having complications and on his, I believe, fourth surgery. This was back around the first of the year. I believe Tim Herald is a member here, maybe he can give us a more detailed update as I'm sure he's keeping up with Stu's progress.
Stu is doing fine...under the circumstances. He has been south for another op and they took shards of loose bone etc out and sorted the pins. He is in very good mental shape and getting on with things as best he can! The arm is slightly mobile and he works with a physio daily to get more and more mobility. Other than frustrated he's doing really good!
