Yes you are right. I’m pretty sure he made several statements about Cheney and other gun owners after that happened. And it seems they are nothing but supporting one of their own after this incident. Truly a double standard if there ever was one.
He did, even called Cheney a terrorist. I'm no Dick Cheney fan, but that's just cra-cra.

So ironic that the now-deceased lady had to have her covid poke certificate to get on set...to "keep everyone safe" yet they ignore gun safety.

I saw a story online that she got into hot water on the set of her last film, which happened to be her first as an armorer. Some lines from an interview with her suggested that she had kind of a flippant attitude about the experience, or at least that's how it read to me. It was said by someone else on the set she discharged a firearm too close to Nicholas Cage and he went postal about her breaking his effing eardrums. This was just months ago.

Also, a lawyer on Fox pointed to a similar happening years ago - I don't recall the actor or movie/show. In that case the person who was found culpable was someone much higher - maybe the director? The person got a year in prison while others found guilty to varying levels got probation.

It seems to me for something like this that a number of people should have harsh penalties. Maybe this is crass, but a fictional book situation comes to mind. Have any of you read the Appaloosa books by Robert Parker? Virgil Cole's approach to taming a town comes to mind: sometimes you gotta kill one to keep from killing others later. Perhaps if the folks involved in this shooting were made to be hard case examples it would tighten things up moving forward. OK, that's probably wishful thinking.

I suggest all actors, directors, producers of movies with guns be required to attend an NRA-sanctioned gun safety class. Then sign a responsibility form if they pull the trigger and someone is hurt. This will put the onus where it truly belongs - on the one whose finger is on the trigger.

there is a good video of will smith correcting a knucklehead when they were looking at the guns to be used on the bad boys movie set. He’s aware of the dangers.

have also seen Keanu reeves do some 3-gun stuff. Guy is fully competent.

I hate hypocrisy of any type. I am guessing most of us do. But I have a special level of loathing for Hollywood sorts who rail on about the evils of firearms and yet make their living portraying the use of them in any form. If life were fair - we know it's not - anyone who's anti second amendment or anti gun would not be allowed to be a part of any movie or show that depicts guns.

All I can think of are the rules of gun safety, especially these three.
Treat every gun as if it were loaded,
Keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction.
Never point a gun at anything you don’t want to destroy.

Let's not forget: keep your GD finger off the trigger until you are positive that what you're wanting to shoot at can be shot at.

Anytime someone picks up a gun around me my eyes go to the muzzle and their index finger.

I prefer using "booger hook" instead of "finger". The uninitiated will never forget that phrase. ;)

I don't know much of Alec Baldwin , nor did I know he was an Anti.
Let's not forget a human lost their life in a tragic accident. Probably going to become a statistic that is used by the antis.
I had no idea who Helyna Hutchins was but sadly she's gone leaving family behind and another crew person injured.
This might not be the place to make light of the irony of Baldwin's situation. He shot and killed another person, unintentionally, accidentally and perhaps someone will be held accountable.
@CBH
Chris I agree whole heartedly with you but the big questions are who loaded the gun, why was he told it was a cold gun and why the hell did he point it at another person .
Rule No1 is always treat a gun as if it is loaded until YOU have checked it and made it safe. This may be hard to do in movie production especially when you have no knowledge of firearms but surely there are safety protocols to follow.
Who is to blame the armourer, the person that said the weapon was cold or Alec Baldwin and why were LIVE ROUNDS on a movie set.
To me it is all three until PROVEN otherwise
A lot of unanswered questions.

The first question:
Why there were live rounds on movie set?
Good question.

All I've heard are the police are determining what the projectile was.

Have they made it know if it was live ammo or a mishap or worse tampering with some form of blank?

i have heard they were target shooting at beer cans off set.

the armorer on this movie also has a sketchy history.

the layers of irony in this tragedy are numerous: an industry that is generally anti-gun makes millions on movies with those guns handled by anti-gun actors who criticize law-abiding citizens and cops as gun nuts, yet those same people are so irresponsible they accidentally kill someone while playing the part of a gunslinger…have I got that right?
