All AH member are welcomed to join in a meet and greet with @Bob Nelson 35Whelen as he and his wife pass through Knoxville, TN on 26 Oct.

Bob is planning on passing through Knoxville around 10am on their way to Roanoke, VA.

The meet and greet will be at the Cracker Barrel at Exit 407, across Winfield Dunn Parkway/Hwy 66 from Bass Pro Shops, on 154 Stadium Drive, Kodak, TN.

If you are interested in joining us please send me a PM or post a comment to this OP.

Dang! Tomorrow? I can't swing that, but I did buy a Ruger Hawkeye in 35 Whelen yesterday. I think Mr. Bob would approve. Safe travels, Sir!
@Hedge774
Anyone that buys a Whelen can't go wrong. It's just a pity Remington under load it but it still works well.
They under load it so 338 sales don't drop off as properly loaded it gives the 338 a horrible shake up.
Now all you need is a few pounds of CFE 223 and Stoke her up. Have fun she won't let you down and tracking will become a lost art
Bob

Thanks for talking me into buying one, Bob! I hope you enjoy Knoxville. We tend to be good folks around here, and I know you won't leave hungry!!!
@Hedge774
If'n y'all enjoy the Whelen as much as we have enjoyed the hospitality we have enjoyed while in the USA you will die a happy person.
Tennessee folks sure are good folks so are everyone we have met in other states here.

The only thing that lets the USA down is the short hunting seasons unlike Australia where we can hunt 365 days a year

We hunt 364 (Christmas off) in Texas :ROFLMAO:

Well @Bob Nelson 35Whelen and @ActionBob, the pressure you all and @Houston Bill applied worked, I purchased the item I was considering from Mark. Ok, it was not so much the pressure but after shooting it the excellent MB upgraded special decided it needed to be in my possession.

Better late than never;)

Seriously, congratulations! You made a great purchase and will enjoy that package immensely. And it will prove itself in Africa. Mine loved Federal Premium Trophy Bonded Bear Claws and the same loaded with Woodleigh Hydro solids. And Remington Premium AFrames. Of course if you hand load the World is your Oyster.

Thanks, it does seem to do great with the Remington Premium AFrames Mark sold me along with it so I think I’m set. Looks like next years Buff is going to get an extra 100 grains (was planning to use RSM 375 with 300 gr AFrames) from me!

For poor souls that couldn't make it, what did you buy? Pictures or it didn't happen :ROFLMAO:

Winchester Model 70 416 Rem mag with Leupold 2-12 fire dot that Mark had upgraded with a Timken trigger, glass bedded and added a mercury recoil reducer. Shoots great!

How is the recoil compared to your 375?

In my gun those Remington Premium A Frames regulate really well with Federal Premium Woodleigh Hydro Solids. In fact a bit tighter than Federal Premium Softs with Trophy Bonded Bear Claws.

Good to know, thanks. In the ammo I purchased with it are some Federal Premium Trophy Bonded Sledgehammer Solid. Mark shot a few in it but I haven’t yet.

Recoil seemed similar to my 375 with that mercury recoil reducer in it, not a noticeable difference, it was fine.

That's what I was hoping;) that extra 100 grains can make a difference! On both ends. Good to hear the mercury tube balances that out.

Oops, meant Timney trigger. But then the experts on this site already knew what I meant

Nice Report! Im about to pull the trigger on booking the LDE with Patrick. I have been talking about it with him for about 3 yrs now. Romain hit me up the other day with an offer I can't refuse for 2027.

Andrew, I commented that your on 375 H&H for sale was the fair price.

Like I commented, my classic stainless has the original 24” barrel.

Did you buy yours with the barrel already cut down to 21” or did you do it (or a gunsmith)?

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.
