I have shared with this group over the past couple of years of our excitement about going to South Africa hunting in 2024 to celebrate our 25th anniversary.
Then bad things started to happen, first my injury causing an emergency surgery and removal of my stomach. So we postponed our trip for a year.
Then my wife was diagnosed with cancer causing another postponed trip. We actually canceled our trip completely.
God Bless Cruiser Safaris for understanding our issues.
So it's been a real Rollercoaster ride, especially dealing with my wife's cancer. Trying to keep a positive attitude and helping her through her journey. Three surgeries and three months of radiation treatments and now an on going five year treatment of meds in hopes to have more time with my wife. Watching her go through the past six months of the pain caused by the side effects of the meds has been very difficult for the both of us. After talking with one of her Doctors today they have decided to change her meds. My wife now feels like there is hope.
My wife told me a few months ago she did not want to travel anymore. That was heart breaking , we have been looking forward to traveling, on hunting trips , like Africa . We are ready to start enjoying our retirement that is coming fast.
After hearing what the Doctor said about the medication change has given us a new hope.
Over the past six months, I have been keeping my mind on work and which gun am I going to build for when we can make it to Africa. Trying to stay positive, will it be a double rifle chambered in a 500/450 Nitro Express or my TCR-87 single shot 416 Rigby . Yet maybe a 470 Capstick bolt action, for that big Cape Buffalo.
And will I have my 350 Rigby rifle built in time for the plains game hunt.
These are the thoughts that have kept me going and a lot of Grace and Mercy from our Lord.
We don't know what year , but there is still a light shining for us in Africa.
Just my thoughts and rambling. Sometimes sharing helps the long travel of lifes Rollercoaster.
