I have shared with this group over the past couple of years of our excitement about going to South Africa hunting in 2024 to celebrate our 25th anniversary.
Then bad things started to happen, first my injury causing an emergency surgery and removal of my stomach. So we postponed our trip for a year.
Then my wife was diagnosed with cancer causing another postponed trip. We actually canceled our trip completely.
God Bless Cruiser Safaris for understanding our issues.
So it's been a real Rollercoaster ride, especially dealing with my wife's cancer. Trying to keep a positive attitude and helping her through her journey. Three surgeries and three months of radiation treatments and now an on going five year treatment of meds in hopes to have more time with my wife. Watching her go through the past six months of the pain caused by the side effects of the meds has been very difficult for the both of us. After talking with one of her Doctors today they have decided to change her meds. My wife now feels like there is hope.
My wife told me a few months ago she did not want to travel anymore. That was heart breaking , we have been looking forward to traveling, on hunting trips , like Africa . We are ready to start enjoying our retirement that is coming fast.
After hearing what the Doctor said about the medication change has given us a new hope.

Over the past six months, I have been keeping my mind on work and which gun am I going to build for when we can make it to Africa. Trying to stay positive, will it be a double rifle chambered in a 500/450 Nitro Express or my TCR-87 single shot 416 Rigby . Yet maybe a 470 Capstick bolt action, for that big Cape Buffalo.
And will I have my 350 Rigby rifle built in time for the plains game hunt.
These are the thoughts that have kept me going and a lot of Grace and Mercy from our Lord.
We don't know what year , but there is still a light shining for us in Africa.

Just my thoughts and rambling. Sometimes sharing helps the long travel of lifes Rollercoaster.

WOW!!!

I hope for the very best and that all works out positive for both you.

I'm truly sorry to hear of your and your wife's illnesses. I admire that you are trying to stay positive in such a difficult time. The mind takes the body farther than the body can go on its own. If I may make a suggestion, you both have just gone through hell. I'd recommend dream up yourself a fine double rifle in the caliber of your choosing that is suitable for the Cape buffalo. Buy your wife that high end purse she has always wanted (or whatever it is that she looks at and you know she dreams about). When you finally get to Africa, the victory will be that much sweeter.

My heart goes out to you and your wife. I can confirm what an emotional roller coaster a cancer diagnosis can be. Staying level headed can be an exhausting exercise and I wish you all the best.

Keep that light burning bright.

Man I hope the best for you guys, you have to be a tough SOB to be able to go through all that and still be joyful.
God bless your family, prayers sent your way.

I’d choose the 500/450 nitro or 470 chapstick.
I like the idea of a 500/450 in a double. But I will have to build it myself. I just ordered the book on building a double rifle out of a double barrel shotgun. And I have a doner shotgun already.

So sorry to hear this. Stay positive and keep the plans to go Africa. Don't give up on the dream, and keep your wife motivated.

You have been through some very rough day/years. Keep the dream alive and treasure each other.

My wish is for you both to make it to africa and see, smell, touch, and feel the adventure that Africa is.

I am truly sorry for what you have gone thru and are going thru now. Keep your strong positive attitude and African Safari dream going. Best wishes to you and your wife.

Firstly, I pray that God sends his angels to pick you both up and strengthen you. Secondly, a couple of years back, I realized that I looked forward to nothing. After that, dark days followed. That's when God showed me Africa. Keep looking forward, My Man! It's what let's us drag on when times are tough! You are tough, and so is your wife. God bless you both! (Please DM me anytime you need)

Keep the planning going. I wish that your plans soon turn into a fantastic trip to Africa with your wife by your side.

See you are from Denmark - see quite a few Danes where I stalk in Scotland - great hunters.
The Harkilia stuff works well in Africa - I have a bit for use here in UK.
I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands. If anyone happens to have a set of 600 Nitro Dies that will fit my Rockchucker Supreme RCBS press, please shoot me a message and thanks in advance for any assistance you may have to offer!
I have not posted any items for sale on this forum and will not every put anything for sale. My account was hacked and I've worked with the admin to get things shut down.
