I used to live in the UK some years back . On the firearms side of things Purdey held the Queen’s Warrant for guns , H&H were for rifles . Westleys and Rigby held no warrant although they certainly did in the reigns of King George v and vi . I don’t put much stock in it .

That’s correct. When I attended to her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II during her state visit in 1983, she expressly told me that her deer stalking rifle of choice was a John Rigby & Co. Mauser in .275 Hi-Velocity.

She was pretty knowledgeable about firearms. She told me us that she formerly preferred Kynoch ammunition until it closed down. At that time, she was using Canadian Imperial brand ammunition (which has since closed down too).

My first trip stalking on a highland estate I arranged to borrow a rifle. Imagine my surprise to be handed a bespoke Rigby in .275 Rigby engraved with the estate owner’s name (a Duke if I recall correctly).

I have seen pictures of that rifle , very plain Jane Mauser on millitary action , and open sights only . Looks like one of Bells rifles almost .

Historically, Royal Warrants were fantastic marketing adverts - your product was used by Kings & Queens, whether Wilkin & Sons marmalade or Farlows fishing tackle or the gun makers. Newspaper & magazine adverts frequently announced 'suppliers to HM the Queen' or the likes.

Likely more important to the seller than the buyer nowadays .......

It is that, but at a bigger scale.

Spent almost 20 years outside of the United States now in my mid 50's and I have spent a lot of time in the UK. There was a former British gal, that almost became Mrs. Muskox about 20 years ago and I visited often. Never heard a word about Royal Warrants.

Also, I subscribe to most of the UK Oriented shooting, hunting and air gun magazines. As EU shipping is pretty cheap. I have never seen anyone speak about a royal warrant in a magazine article.

The advertisers might have a little image of the royal warrant in their ad, but that would be it.

The only people that seem to care about things like this in my circles are diplomatic weirdos who have 800 British Pound tea sets.

When I lived in Kentucky (the epicenter of fake British as far as I know) everyone was wearing Hunter Wellies and had plaid wall paper. Wearing

Seems like the kinds of people that would care about royal warrants fit into those two groups.
1. Fake British Cosplay Southerners
2. Diplomatic Foreign Service people who are HRH worshippers.
3. People selling things who pay the piper for the advertising rights. To infer a level of exclusivity.

Having trouble picturing a toothless Kentucky moonshiner wearing tweed and riding boots.
