A good write-up. Re-reading Man eaters of Kumaon now (for the 11th time)
The “white glove“ treatment of Corbett’s rifle is a bit much though…

Agree. I know a guy who recently handled Hemingway's Beretta S03 - the curator simply handed it across the counter - no gloves, no muss, no fuss. White gloves are slippery, after all.

As a matter of fact having done a lot of researching old materials, many places are no longer giving old documents (even photos in some places) white glove treatment. I know factually it is MUCH harder handling docs and pics with gloves - you are more apt to bend them. Clean, dry hands rule the day.

great story and neat to see the color pic and identifiable marks on the tiger.

Thanks, enjoyed reading a bit more about my hero.

On a related subject, if you've not already seen it, here's a link to my post regarding my visit to Col. Corbett's grave about a year ago . . .

Thanks @Anbessa Gedai - I’d missed that - a good read.

Great read! Thanks for posting this! Corbett's books are what got me started hunting and hunting with classic rifles.

Thanks for posting this! Kinda been a fan of Corbett my whole life. To let you know how much i admire him, my 6 year old daughter is named Maggie after his sister. My boy who will turn 2 in March is named Corbett. Hate to name my kids but had to! Who is this Jim Corbett guy you are all talking about? Haha

@Jeff SN - I guess your dog is Robin? ;)

NO! Pissed me off. My kids named her Nelly! But she is no Robin, lays around all day waitin for someone to pet her. A Robin she is not! Got to lose some I geuss

Thanks for sharing!
Currently reading man eater of kumaon. Absolute joy

Thank you for sharing this link. I very much enjoyed reading the article.

Great article and thank you for posting it.

I managed to pick up a "First American Edition" of Man-eaters of Kumaon (published 1946) recently; it's in the reading pile awaiting its turn.

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
