9.3x62 bolt rifle barrel length...

I don’t think barrel length matters much with the 9.3x62. Get what ever rifle tickles your fancy. Do you have a particular rifle you are looking at? Are you planning on hand loading or going with factory ammo? You won’t go wrong with any common barrel length in the 9.3x62.
I am looking at Rigby London Best in left handed bolt. Possibly with a full-length stock as the Stutzen pictured above, hence wanting a 20" barrel length.

I’m guessing that it may be the only stutzen in 9.3x62 they have ever produced. Sounds like an epic rifle

There is a possibility that I might order a bolt rifle in 9.3x62. I was thinking a 20" barrel. This would be used mostly for driven pig hunting.
What say you?
@Tanks would be handy but noisy. Velocity drop shouldn't make much difference at shorter ranges but she will rattle your ears.
Had a 18" barrel 303 for a short while ( very short while). I called it a boom ring. Pull the trigger it goes boom and your ears ring for ages. Ten quick shots (a mag full for fun) and it hurts
Would be fine for the odd shot but where's the fun in that.

This caliber works well from a 50cm (20in) barrel. I had the opportunity to shoot from shorter barrels, but in that case the recoil was already very unpleasant and the flash from the barrel excessive.

That's why you have ear defenders/muffs..... ;)....also my heym fullstock in 9.3x62 makes a big boom noise....totally different from my other rifles...very distinctive

I bought a lovely left handed Sako Barvian in 9.3 x 62. The guy before me ordered it specially with a 20 " barrel for Sambar hunting in our Victorian Alps. After having my gunsmith [ Rob Spittles] do his magic on it, this rifle is one of my favorite. With a moderate fast burning powder like Adi 2206h all powder is burnt in the barrel and loses very little velocity.
It's extremely light, very fast to handle and a tack driver. It wears a leupold 1.5 to 5 and I am confident that it's capable of taking deer out to 300 yds.

@spike.t
Back in the day we didn't even know what earmuffs were. I don't think they had been invented back then. In days of yore we didn't even have earmuffs for range use let alone in the field with these flash and fantasy electrical ones. Probably why I have hearing loss now.

Yup...when I started clay shooting...learned on isu Skeet...was only type of clays back then, no ear muffs....was about 15 years old or so....4 to 6 rounds of Skeet every weekend....somehow don't think it helped my ears either....was probably around 3 years before ear muffs started to appear...but people looked on them as for pooftahs as was said back then....mid 1970s so no PC back then... :E Rofl: ...gun club made them mandatory after a while...which was probably a good idea.

I own the only steyr semiwight SX imported. 20 semi heavy, 18x1 thread pitch.
Puts 5 in the same hole at 100 with accubonds (2450 mv) and is sub moa with ppu (2250).
I run a Rugged 360 alaskan with direct thread mount.
Currently wears a Leica 1-6, but I also have an Aimpoint T2 in a larue qd for it.
I can't think of a better hard use rifle for everything from WT deer to...whatever.

Good morning,
Did you hunt w Leeuwkop at their ranch or in Zimbabwe? The ranch looks awesome, but I'll be in Zimbabwe for buffalo and whatever else we dig up.
What did you hunt for?
Vaccines?
What rifle did you use?
I feel like I need a good cotton safari shirt and an ammo belt to make the hunt feel right!
How often did you shoot prior to going?
Did you use sticks for shooting practice?
