7x66 Scharfgeschoss Express vom Hofe...Happy Days

So glad I stumbled on this thread... I had never even heard of this cartridge before. Ever.
It sounds -and looks awesome though. (y)

7x66 SE vH is a unique and historic trip with the potential to at least keep pace with, and at best out perform, modern 7mm magnums. Not for the faint of heart considering availability and prices, especially in Canada, but what is life without a bit of adventure. Classic German guns should be built in classic German calibers... with cool names.

Hi can anyone help me out finding a set of dies for the 7x66

These are made by Triebel, you need the bigger 1.25 inch press.

I have thés âme dies in 10,3x68 and they are exceptional.

Gray wolf also has brass. and regular dies.

Not sure if they will export.

I’d like to upgrade my Forster Co Ax to the XL model to take those Triebel 1 1/4” dies. Triebel dies are the bomb.
See if Redding comes through first.

I am guessing you are shooting a Mauser 66?

Well i managed to find a set of dies.
How just to get some load data. The rifle is just a customized 98

Looks like a late 60s / early 70s build. Looks good!

Looks like they used a Parker Hale stock, military action. Nice find.

I have been thinking about getting a 7x66 Mauser 66 as they are always pretty cheap here.

I have not done the deep dive, but apparently some of the 7mm ultra mag cartridges like the Nosler and the RUM are similar in case dimensions. At least the Nosler is. Maybe a guy could fire form using Nosler brass for the 7mm Nosler.

Sorry 28 Nosler, I forgot what it was called.

Got an email from Corlane Sporting Goods this morning. Their Redding order, including my 7x66 SE vH dies, was just shipped. Can't wait.

Nice,

I just won a Egun auction last night for dies for the 5,6x50 and 200 rounds of brass.

I have a M66 in 6,5x68, 308 and 5,6x57. Still working on shooting components for the 6,5x68 and 5,6x57.

Muskox,
Do you mean you have 3 separate Mauser 66 rifles, one each in 6.5x68 (Group 3, magnum system), 308, and 5.6x57 (both Group 1, normal system)?

That 5.6x57 should be a zipper.

Yes 3.

I have not shot any of them. I ran out of room in the safe, so they are at the local gun shop in his safe.

5,6 uses regular .224 bullets . But brass is Rws and can’t be reformed from x57s

what kind of velocity does the 140 grains list, curious how they would fit in with my current 130 gr, supply of 270s. maybe a pic of the box data listing vel. and drop. Oh and complements on that ammo belt, nice.
