Hello friends.
I want to buy a barrel for R8 in .416
Does anyone have this caliber in R8 and what ammo do they use most often for big game. I'm also interested for Blaser red dot with integrated sadle mount and how satisfied they are? THANK YOU

I went with the Aimpoint H2 with integrated Blaser mount, and found it very effective. I shot a solitary boar of perhaps 200-225 lbs at about 70 yards with it, and that's all that I've shot with it, but the device is both simple and effective.

I had a .458 Lott barrel for my R8, but I found the aluminum receiver match with the factory recoil pad an exceedingly unpleasant combination, so I sold the barrel. I'm sure the .416 barrel isn't quite as nasty, but I'd be prepared to upgrade my recoil pad to something more substantial than the factory offering. Since you're in Europe, I can't imagine that's a big deal. What are your intended targets?

If Aimpoint is excellent, I wouldn't have anything against it either. I have a wooden stock for a 17mm rubber shock absorber. it is not a problem to upgrade to a fat one. I will take your advice.
He plans everything and everything, and what will I succeed in, that is the question. I will probably try the Daga boy first with that new barrel. I consult a lot with Mark hunter on this forum, he has a lot of experience, so I guess I will find an offer that suits me

@Miletic
Early at this stage, if you are going for 416 barrel, I can advise that you start sourcing 416, 400 grains swift a frame bullets.
Asap!
They are not widely available.

Buy now, use them when you get the barrel.

You overestimate me.
;)
There are much more knowledgeable people on the forum then myself, and they will all be glad to help.
Just dont be shy, ask what you need!

Would you be willing to talk sometime about your experience with RDB? More so what you would recommened taking. I will be going in May.

Good morning,
Did you hunt w Leeuwkop at their ranch or in Zimbabwe? The ranch looks awesome, but I'll be in Zimbabwe for buffalo and whatever else we dig up.
What did you hunt for?
Vaccines?
What rifle did you use?
I feel like I need a good cotton safari shirt and an ammo belt to make the hunt feel right!
How often did you shoot prior to going?
Did you use sticks for shooting practice?
