404 Jeffery custom 98 Mauser

I am working on a 404J project and I only hope it comes out half as good as yours. I'm doing it all myself and on a tight budget.
But this gives me a fine example of what I'm wanting in the end.

Not just beautiful but B E A U T I F U L. I'll bet even Von Gruff would approve and Dr. Ray might even like it. I know I sure as he.. do.

Do you have any plans on when you are taking it to Africa?

Yes he does most decidedly so like this and noted "like" on the first post.

I especially like the checkering pattern that gives a full coverage on the wrist and the square fronted forestock patern.
Georgous piece of wood that has been shaped with a very delicate understanding of form and function. Simply outstanding excecution of the gunmakers "art". I would be proud to be seen with it in any circumstances and expect it will have a very storied future.

Beautiful rifle indeed. Is the Mauser 98 action a custom, newly manufactured version? I've been looking at Granite Mountain custom actions (http://www.granitemountainarms.com/), but man they are expensive and take close to a year to get.

I do hope to take this rifle to Africa, but it will not be for a couple of years yet. It will see some use on water buffalo in the northern territory of Australia before it goes to Africa.

Its a 1957 Colombian action, opened up at the rear. I do like the GMA actions, I had a bloke over here in Australia trying to get me one. That was three years ago so I went a different route. Satterlee Arms is an action I would like to see.

Here's a photo of Tony receiving that Shaw & Hunter award at the 1970 annual EAPHA Dinner Dance. Tony Dyer, then EAPHA President and Princess (Sunny) von Auersperg presented it. I also attended the event.
