375 H&H versus 9.3 x 74R

The 375 is banded for alignment in a bolt-action rifle. The action in an express usually requires substantial 'bite' into the case for ejection/extraction., thus the substantial flange.

Some express use same cartridge as the bolt action, 30:06 for example. There is no need or demand to fit the #62 into #74. There are too many types of cartridges. Apart from romance and experimentation and filling older guns we could easily get down to 4.
Please be careful of what you write or how you write it. Several States here in Australia have recently passed laws limiting people to 4 or 5 rifles, total.

I take it you mean down to 4 rifles for DG?

I would take the Kimber in .375 Holland & Holland Magnum. That, combined with your Winchester Model 70 in .300 Winchester Magnum makes for a magnificent African battery.

The 9,3x74R should be reloaded with lighter bullets like the 250 gr Accubond with a higher B.c.
The normally used 286 gr bullets with poor B.c. will offer inadequate ballistics.

For the mentioned game (only the Sable id heavy and tough) I´d use the .375 H&H, but also with lighter bullets (e.g. 260 gr Accubond) or would use a .300 Win Mag with 180-200 gr bullets.

@Pythagorus If you can get down to 4 good on you. i can't get below 60 and quit trying to do so.

@Luederitz in a single shot TC encore and Ruger #1 I loaded 250 accubonds and it works great.

They don't regulate for crap in my double so will stay with 286 and 300gr in the double. Most of the places i hunt with the double the BC is irrelevant as the shots are under 130.

I hunt with my double much more than the singles.. if hunting a area where normal shots are over 130 I will take my 9.3x62 or 375 H&H bolt guns.

Any of the three calibers you listed will do the job just fine. I would only take one rifle, and that would be the one I had the greatest confidence in.

what kind of velocity does the 140 grains list, curious how they would fit in with my current 130 gr, supply of 270s. maybe a pic of the box data listing vel. and drop. Oh and complements on that ammo belt, nice.
