I have a semi-custom Remington 700 chamber in 300 RUM. August 2025, I took it to Namibia on a Plains Game hunt. I harvested 5 animals in 5 days with 5 shots. Your 338 RUM will obviously do the job. My 300 RUM let the Eland run 60 yards, the Sable fell immediately, the Gemsbok fell immediately, the Waterbuck made it 100 yards, and the Kudu went 25 yards. You might have a little overkill.
