Hi Paul,

To me, the Winchester 70 safety type bolt shroud is a great feature! The H&H scope mount is second to none! The scope, a Kahles S1 2,5x20 is one of the best scope ever made, no matter the non centered reticle. Looking at the scope mount rings they allow to change the scope for other period (or non period) scope of some more magnification, like a 4 or 6x one, perhaps more suited to the rifle-cartridge uses, or a Kahles 2,3-7x or 3-9x variable of the same model that were also 26 mm steel tube and the first truly sealed scopes.
I am wandering as if I the rifle were mine...!

Excellent. How accurate does it remain?

1.25” at 100, but I haven’t had a chance to develop a load yet, I can get it tighter.
