This rifle is a new old stock rifle in the box. The rifle has not been fired to my knowledge. The chamber and bolt face are new clean. The rifle came with Burris scope rings and bases, so I cannot guarantee there has never been a scope mounted, but there is no indication of it. The rings are in the box for the next owner to do with as he wishes. There are no signs on the stock or barrel that it has even been to a range let alone hunted with.
    Asking $1100.

The above rifle is a 1982 M70 Stainless Classic. It started life as a 3006 and sometime in the past was re chambered to 300 H&H. This is a controlled feed rifle. It has a Burris E 1 3 x 9 scope mounted. I obtained the rifle as a result of an estate sale. There is no indication that the rifle had ever been shot and positively never hunted. I took the rifle to the range to check the feed and ejection since it had been re chambered at some point. I fired 13 rounds of factory Hornady 300 H&H 180 grain Inter Bond through it with no malfunctions feeding or ejecting. I did not zero the scope.
    Asking $1300.

These two rifles are on consignment with:

I wasn't checking for accuracy or groups, only that the feed and ejection functions were working properly since it had been re chambered. I did not work on zeroing the scope.

Buy with confidence, gents! I purchased a rifle recently from @sierraone and it was an excellent transaction. In fact, I think I was seriously looking at this very .375, but ended up buying a different .375 from him!

No elephant hunt in the works. I found these two rifles in different places and times during the last couple of month and bought them for resale. They are both like new, even though the stainless was made in 1982.

If you decide the "another gun" option, the rifle is ready to ship from Wildman Arms in Bryant, Arkansas!

I'm curious about the date. Wheren't the Model 70 Classics introduced in 1992? Is 1982 a typo, or were there actually some Classics done at that time?

Hi Scott. This is a classic stainless, not the classic. The serial number puts its manufacture from 82 into 83. With the condition of the rifle, it appears it was made last year!!!. I have only seen one other. It was a .270, no scope on Guns International for $1295. I have just checked to see if it is still there. It is not. If you find otherwise I don't mine changing my description. I will P.M you the Serial number.

@ScottB, @Bullthrower338 has been able to dig up where M70 serial numbers started over in 1990 with G15000. I do not understand how or where he came up with this, but I trust him at his word. Based on this my rifle for sale could have been made after 1990. I will still be trying to find further info with the Winchester Owners Association after a couple of days on the road starting tomorrow.
Anyone possibly interested in buying this rifle....there is now the possibility that it was made in 92 or even later instead of 82 as I originally posted. I don't know that this would make a difference, but at least now we know....maybe!

I need to figure out where the hell I put it but the reference book by R.L. Wilson, Winchester Rifle has pictures of GX and GXX serial numbers. If I can find it I will post some pics.

Don't know about the pics you want to post, but old R.L. is a story by himself. Had a pretty long successful career. Then got caught up running some type of scram on some big money collectors. Ended up doing some time if I remember correctly.Don't know if he is still around or not.

I believe he served just over a year for a fraud charge over selling a 1840’s vintage colt pistol to a convicted felon with ties to the mob and telling the owner the gun wasn’t sold yet. It was around 500k sale price. He died a couple years ago.

This is Serial Number G1 action that was provided by U.S. Repeating Arms Co. and was the first of their new CRF actions. Rifle was custom built by David Miller and was sold at SCI for $201,000.00 in 1986. This is per Wilson’s book.
