You might want to have a look at teh Meopta R2 1-6. It has long eye relief and good glass and is good value, or as above the Trijicon which also has good eye relief.
Thanks for your interest, we do have a printed brochure. If you PM me your address I can get one out to you. We are planing on introducing a few shop items this year.
I had a Leupold Delta point on my CZ .500 J but swapped it for a Trijicon RMR.I found the protector around the screen wasnt strong enough on the Leupold and when it got knocked it put the screen out of whack and the dot was unusable. I think the Trijicon is a stronger design. I have the triangle...
I understand that many will think the rifles are over priced, but they are priced competitively with other English hand made rifles. The prices reflect the cost of the components and the time of the craftsmen to build the rifles. They are limited production and are for a small market who want...
William Jackman Jeffery started his business W.J. Jeffery and Company at King Street, St James in London in 1891 and quickly established himself as a leading supplier of guns and rifles to discerning sportsmen and explorers throughout the Empire and beyond
His name is synonymous with the...
I find the viper flex really useful. I took a set of the Blaser quad sticks to Africa last year, but the twist lock on the legs wasnt robust enough for travelling in a bumpy Land Cruiser. The Viper flex are more robust and I use them in the UK and find them excellent. Will be taking Viper flex...
Thank you for all the encouraging comments. We are building the rifles as 'Best' rifles and the price reflects the hours that are put in by the craftsmen to achieve this standard.

This new edition of our classic dangerous game rifle is a faithful reproduction of the early .500 rifles built at the introduction of the cartridge. The new rifle is built to the original specifications of the first .500 rifles (of which only 24 were built) adopting a...
Hi Lon, We are using FZH Magnum Mauser actions and Walther barrels. If you PM me your serial number I will come back to you with the info we have. Sadly most of the records are lost, but we have the original production ledger which should have the original spec. of the rifle. Thanks
Thanks for your message. We dont have a store to look around, but if you would like to see the rifles in the UK, I can arrange a viewing in Salisbury, Wiltshire at Greenfields store. Send me a PM and I can arrange if you are interested. Thanks
Thank you! We have made them as close to the originals as we can including the correct barrel profiles and sights. Pleased with how they have turned out.
Thank you. Yes the Smithson mounts are the standard option and all the first .404 rifles have double square bridges. If you wanted to discuss other options, do get in touch on sharpshooter@wjjeffery.com. Thanks for the interest.
I'm sorry you dont like the rifles. The square bridges on the action are traditionaly for scope mounting or a receiver peep and are designed to be able to use the open sights. Best rifles were made with commercial not military actions. The ramp foresight is an exact copy of an original best...
My back up rifle. Started as a CZ custom shop rifle, but had a Duane Wiebe mag box fitted and AHR put on a newbolt handle and safety and trigger and fitted the fibreglass stock. Eyes getting a bit old so use a Leupold dot sight with triangle ret.
I use one in the UK and it is a useful aid to picking up animals that you might otherwise miss, mostly for Roe stalking but have used on the hill in Scotland as well. Found it less usefull in Africa. So many thinngs from trees to rocks retain their warmth that it is less useful. Thought it would...
