It's like here in Europe. Some "hunters" who are proud of killing any kind of specimen they see, no matter which age (99.9% too young), which sex, which angle they shoot at the animal, etc. and afterwards are posting this sh*t and telling everyone how fun it was just to shoot at something...

AFAIK Roessler stopped producing the Titan 16 Strasser RS14 is up to .458 Win (other DG calibers are .375 and .416 Ruger) But yes, the R8 is the most versatile without any question!

Yes, you are absolutely right. My answer was related to this part of the question: "Should I bring solids for follow up shots or is that a thing of the past..? Opinions..?" I also thought a lot about this and decided to only bring Barnes TSX in my .404 Jeff.

Same here... starting a buff hunt in August this year. I chose Barnes TSX 400gr for my .404 Jeffery. Manageable recoil and very accurate due to handloads.

In general you are right. But, if you have enough patience you can still grab components for a reasonable price. I bought 50 pieces of new norma brass for approx. 300$ last week :) I would always choose a .404 out of the three mentioned choices...

Well, the European and non DG cartridges, have a shorter L3 than 70mm normally (except e.g. 9,3x74)... So they can still supply 98%+ of the European market (except DG) up to the caliber 9,3x64... not the worst statistics for the sales part... They are not advertising for those .404 Jeff. brass...

Depending on your needs or plans you might be effected. Speaking for myself using only European products and reloading my own ammunition, I am not really affected right now...

I think so too... A lot of weapon and ammunition industry is located in Europe. There are a lot of possibilities... Personally I would always choose a German, Belgium or Austrian rifle over any other brand... they simply know how to build reliable weapons...

I might add, that the action itself looks like it's numerical identical. Maybe even the bolt and cooking peace (which is good) Only the floor plate has a different number. Indeed a very fine Mauser action :)

Well my .404 is a MRC Long Action. The feeding is superb... therefore I had them in mind... In fact I don't need a .375 at all, it would be just for fun. But the package has to be the right one. So I could use it in Europe too... Thanks for your answer!
