We found them to be undependable in cold weather, and as Zepther said above, they are
slightly larger in dia.once you use them in a hull you must continue to do so.
For many years, I went once a year, but now that I'm retired I've moved up to
twice a year, with a couple little other trips elsewhere thrown in for good measure.
I agree.......
Shot placement is EVERYTHING.... I have killed a great many of them with everything from
a 270 win to a 375 H&H.. results are the same.
They aren't called a "poor mans buffalo" for nothing.
It is no big deal both in and out of Namibia.
BUT.. if going thru South Africa en route to Namibia, you also must get a SA firearms permit.
Just be sure you have your US for 4457 .
That is a real good thought to get invitation to use both Bow and Rifle.
Other than that, I go back and forth between SA and Namibia all the time without hassle.
Just be sure you have your SA firearm permit with you as you enter and exit the country.
I have 60 Once Fired Federal cases, 10 WW cases, and 10 Nosler cases.
also 140 ( one box of 40 and an unopened box of 100) 250 gr Hornady SP-RP # 3335
if you are interested.
Cases 25 Cents each + Flat rate box postage. = about $ 30 del
add the bullets for $60 with no additional...
I absolutely agree, use a service coming in for sure, but at least for your first time or two departing,
it will help you get the hang of it.
I use Air2000 both coming and going, and have for 15 years. It just takes all the hassle and uncertainty
out of it.
I took a variety of plains game from Impala,
Blesbok, Wart Hogs to
Blue and Black Wildebeest, and Gemsbok.
All broadside shots exited, and the recovered bullets were all from frontal or quartering towards me
with 30 plus inches of penetration.
I just got back from SA and Namibia and took 15 animals with the 150 gr CX ammo in
the 7mm Rem Mag.
Recovered only 4 of them, and those recovered look just like the ones in Horandys ad.
appears to be a tough n deep penetrating bullet.
I'd use thena gain.
Are you sure the original primers were not "crimped" in like military?
I found quite a bit of the Hornady ammo to have this, then you need to ream and or swage out the crimp and all is well.
I'm taking some 150 CX Outfitter ammo in my 7mm mag to Namibia in a few weeks.
Will let you know how they perform on game. Paper and gelatin tests are not the same as
flesh and blood.
Yes, at 308 WIN velocity, it should work just fine. I found them a bit soft at 300 Mag speeds, but once they got out there 2-300 yards, performance was just fine.
I've simplified my life, and use 165 Barnes in the Win Mag and WSM and 168 gr Barnes in the H&H
on "everything" from Deer to Eland. Either TSX or TTSX, makes no difference.
