I used a tsx for my leopard. Had the same concerns you had. My leopard went 40 yds and was down. No hide damage. Don't overthink it, just aim true

it's a 16" barrel. I have a lab radar and will be chronographing. I won't use that over 100 yds. Last time I went I shot my bear at 32 yds walking straight at me. He didn't know I was there. 375 H&H was nice in that scenario.

I talked to Barnes the 270 grain LRX opens up at 1600 fps. The tsx in 250, 270 require 1800 and 300 requires 1600 as well

it has ejectors. I think it was built in 2015 or 2016, but not entirely sure. the 450/400 is very pleasant to shoot. Its a hard one for me to sell.

Thanks you for the help. I think I'll start with H4831sc with the bullets .050 off the lands. Planning on shooting a 10 shot ladder in .2 grain increments to the max charge over a chrony.

Does anyone have load data for this. I will be using H4831sc or H1000. Looked at every gun store in town and can't find their loading manual and their technician is not in office.

I shot mine with a 450/400.......8times and 8 miles later he was dead! Those vitals are high and tight on that front leg. My first 2 shots were 3" back from perfect. I think 338 is fine. Put it where it belongs or you'll get to watch trackers for a while

Guide said I didn't NEED solids for 416 but it wouldn't hurt to have some. I did not think out my ratio of solids to softs very well considering that I was hunting leopard as well. Need to shoot lots of bait for leopard...! I didn't take long before I was pretty short of TSX's for the 416, so...

I agree with the above, but I always do what guide says. If he says bring solids, he most likely wants them used once the initial shot is taken with softs. Switch to solids for tracking. I think it starts the hunt off on a good note if you do what the guide asks you to do. Last time I went I...
