Yes I did, had two discussions with the store clerk. He cleaned and inspected the bore, no pitting and all seems good. Apparently it didn't work too much, I would want to use it as my go-to hunting rifle for plains game

My 8yo boy started hunting with a 6.5x55, very good caliber choice and in the right rifle it can last him long. Got my hands on a Savage 99 lever action in 250-3000, hope he can also hunt with that going forward. Will be cool for him and me

Thanks I will start the search. I am planning to use it as a pig gun. Bushpig hunting around my parts is a thing, because they destroy farmers crops. My sons can also hopefully carry it one day since it's light/ well balanced and no recoil, easy to operate.

Thanks I bought a Model 99 takedown model (old version) in 250 Savage today. This is the info I needed, really want to load it 100gr but will see what she does. I've received some bags of brass and a few boxes loaded ammo with the rifle, will see if I can find Sierra Pro Hunters

I picked up a Husqvarna 9.3x62 Mauser type action. Nice wood, smooth action, good bore. Gonna load it for buffs, will give feedback one day. Now to wait for license...

Posting on an old thread... I am looking at buying a 375 H&H, both the Sako 85 Hunter and Brown bear are rifles that interest me. Difference between the two? Which would be better for hunting Africa, or no difference in terms of field performance? Other options are CZ550 of Winchester Mod 70

I started loading 190 gr Kriek Monometal bullets for 30-06 - yet to hunt with them. Will hunt all PG up to eland with this rifle in the bushveld - all shots closer than 200m (if ever that distance)
