    Favorite animal hunt

I enjoy hunting capercaillie and black grouse the most. Not sure why. Perhaps it’s because I can walk around in the forest, and do it without other people. Sometimes with a shotgun, other times with a rifle. I should really get a drilling.

What makes other rifles less elegant and useful? Trying to learn here, not being argumentative. Sorry for derailing the thread.

That’s what I thought .Not many sole authorship(if that’s the correct term)guns out there. Very impressive.

    Bullet making dies

I’ve bought my stuff from Richard as well. Have not used it much but I’m about to ramp it up. Saving money was not my goal when getting into it,but considering I bought it years ago I definitely will. Learning, having fun and making things not available anywhere else is fun though. Getting...

    German books

Thx @Jäger_Ivo . I might just have to pick it up then. I like reading books in various languages,we all have different ways of doing things so I might pick up something useful. While learning a language.

    German books

Is German your mother tongue,@Jäger_Ivo ? The reason I’m asking is my German is not that good, but if the subject is interesting and the language not too advanced,I do ok.

Overserved, but happy as hell to escape tyranny

The homemade one I got was called travaritsa.Fairly bland, but cool nonetheless. What annoys me was that the security at Lax confiscated the olive oil he’d made for me. Not a fan of olive oil but they all said homemade is completely different to store bought. Sorry for derailing your thread rook.

What do people think about “non-trophy” hunts

I don’t have any trophies and don’t really want any either. I hunt for the experience, and at home- for food. So I’m good with hunting what’s available, single horn, medal, whatever. That being said,I really like leatherwork so I might bring some hides home. And perhaps horn/bone for knife making.

.300 H&H is what I’d do,because I’ve never had one. And in your case,it’s classic, useful, and since you’re covered on the big bore front, why not?

    .22 rifle

Doing the same here, but I think I’m going in a different direction than I originally planned. Most likely buying a Kidd 10/22. Not a big fan of semi auto’s normally, but .22’s are ok.

    Why not a Single Shot?

I’ve a thing for single shots, yet I own exactly zero now. One day I’ll get myself a Heeren, wanted one for years. The “best” one I’ve owned was a Blaser K95.

    30-06 mono bullets?

Since nobody asked Imma tell you anyway. The rifle is a Schultz&Larsen M54J. Only tested it at fifty meters but it tore one big hole in the paper with factory ammo,4 shot groups. I usually do five shot groups but it’s three in the mag and one in the pipe. Bullets,at least what I’m testing first...

    30-06 mono bullets?

Picked it up yesterday, was going to test it now,but couldn’t get to the range. Cock on close and rear lugs is a new experience, which is partially why I bought it.

    30-06 mono bullets?

No need for me either but I like to tinker and test. I could just go for a “normal”180,I’ve got a lil stash of Scirocco two’s. And some others.

    30-06 mono bullets?

I’ll check the twist when I pick it up. Seems quite a few calibers used slower twist than we prefer today. Looking at you tripledeuce.

    30-06 mono bullets?

All bullets are legal, but I thought I’d try out some mono’s,just because. I did not expect bullets lighter than 165 to be recommended.Interesting, and something I need to learn more about. I’ve shot tsx/ttsx before but never hunted with them.
  34. S

    30-06 mono bullets?

Well, seems I’ve just bought my first aughtsix. And for no good reason at all,I’d like to use mono metal bullets for hunting. 165-ish a good weight to aim for,or heavier? Any good options out there other than Barnes? Oh,deer, moose and boars will be the quarry. Most likely shorter ranges, but I...

    404 Ruger

From Corbin’s,bullet die maker; A lead tip cannot, be definition, be bonded since there is no jacket surrounding it.
