    Plains Game Hunting Rifle/Cartridge question

If possible, I would definitely take my own rifle. I used a loan rifle once, and the trigger pull was way too heavy for me....and not conducive to accuracy until I put a lot of roads through it at the range.

    Questions on London Gun Shops

I'd also recommend booking a table at Simpsons on the Strand; the roast beef is excellent.

I'm based in the UK and looking for a McMillan stock for a Winchester M70 Extreme Weather in .30-06 (long action one piece floorplate). I'm happy to pay postage from USA or elsewhere. I realise there are various styles/specs available, but ideally looking for a Game Hunter, Game Warden or...

SOUTH AFRICA: SA Plains Game With Dinkwe Safari

You have some great trophies to remind you of your safari. I also use a 6.5x55; I'm tempted to take it to Africa having seen the results you achieved with your swede.

The only way you'll find out is to give it a go. And if you don't, you'll look back and wonder what might been. I wish you all the very best.

WANTED: Management Hunt For Plains Game 2024

My first and only African hunting trip was to Namibia in 2018. After the upheaval of the past two years, I'm starting to plan another visit, probably in July or August 2024 for 6 to 10 days. This time I'll be joined by a longstanding hunting friend, our wives and his two children (currently 8...

Friends in the UK for a new shooter?

One thing I can virtually guarantee is that your friend will not be laughed at; instead, I would be very surprised if he didn't receive wholehearted support and encouragement. Depending on his location, I cam recommend Corinium Rifle Range (near Cirencester); it's a well-equipped range and the...

    Hello from England

Thanks D&C gave me a slot for it when I renewed my Firearms Certificate last year, but it's conditioned for range use only. I'll contact them again once I've bought a rifle, as I'd like to use it for boar and large woodland stags.

    Hello from England

Thank you. Monday morning unfortunately means strong black coffee. I currently use a Tikka T3X in 6.5x55 and a Winchester M70 Extreme Weather in .30-06. I plan to buy a .375 H&H over the next year or so for use in Africa.

    Hello from England

I'm fifty three and am lucky to have been involved in hunting and fishing since childhood. Initially with shotguns, but have been hooked on deer stalking for about 20 years, mainly roe and muntjac, but also sika, fallow and red deer in Scotland. I hunted plains game in Namibia in 2018 and am...
