22-250 for monkey, baboon and small cat

Same here. Just couldn’t justify paying double when the vmax worked so good. But what I did notice is I could kill multiple light framed creatures if they were lined up with the vmax where as the vg would transfer 100% to the inside of the first one.

22-250 for monkey, baboon and small cat

Has anyone tried the barnes varmint grenade? Once back quite a few years ago when I was still a young teen my dad had about 125 ac of catfish ponds. I used a 36 gr varmint grenade at somewhere around 4400 fps from a 22-250 on a blue heron 60 yds away. It was facing straight at me and the...

Forgive my ignorance but what is the reason the drop tube is that long? I understand what it’s for just not understanding why it’s that long?

    Preferred powder for 25-'06?

Your right there wasn’t. The sad part was it took 12 shots to hit it the first time cause my scope was twisted ever so slightly. If I remember correctly been more then 10 yrs ago but it was around 3000 and 3300 fps

    Preferred powder for 25-'06?

56 gr of RL 22 and a 100 gr ttsx would shoot .5 moa out of my weatherby vanguard. 117 gr hornady sp liked h4831 sc in my experience. I once killed a 12 ounce mtn dew can with 4 consecutive shots at 400 yds from a bipod with the 117 gr h 4831sc combo

    6.8lb 45-70

Just for clarification I am not interested in the muzzleloader barrel in the least. Probably try to sell it. But it does have the full plastic jacket insert. All I want is the 45-70

ZIMBABWE: Hunting Elephant Near Hwange With Mbalabala Safaris

One of the best reports I’ve read in a long time! Thank you! You certainly won’t hear me judging you for your participation in turning 80lb 8 pts into 230 lb healthy ones. Great job!

    6.8lb 45-70

So let me see if I got this right. The rules for success are leave a small gap between the butt and my shoulder, hold my head high ( so as to be able to see thru that 56 mm scope set to high power) and go hunt a buffalo. Someone did say something about 404 territory right?

    6.8lb 45-70

I’ve burned cases of 3.5” 12 ga. loads as fast as I could cycle it and it never bothered me. Then one day with the same gun propped up and shot it like a rifle with a light 2.75” shell. You talk about a complete different feeling. In reality a 44 mag is all the power I will ever need. I just...

    6.8lb 45-70

That’s what I’m thinking. But it begs the question Is there a dg round that it would compare to? Thankfully there is plenty of trapdoor load data available. My sister has one in 44 mag and 265gr bullets at 1700 fps are far from uncomfortable.

    6.8lb 45-70

I have recently been bitten by the straight wall cartridge bug and have decided on the Henry 45-70 single shot. In looking at load data I see Barnes has one with 50 gr of aa1680 and a 400 gr original at 2185 out of a 24” barrel. Anyone have any idea what the recoil will be like in a 6.8lb rifle?

Reloading The 35 Whelen With Power Pro Varmint

I just looked at load data from Sierra for the 7 mm mag and the 30-06 and they show 2990 and 2930 FPS both for the 165 gr bullet. Just me thinking but I believe the larger diameter surface the powder has to push on makes the difference.

    Barnes TSX reviews/question

I’ve worked at a deer processing plant for 13 years now and saw enough lead get missed and run thru the grinder that I just lost interest in using lead core bullets. Last year I used my 338 win mag with the 160 gr ttsx on 5 whitetails. The first 4 I used a mid grade load of rl15 for ok results...

My 25 was also a weatherby vanguard that I only paid $440 for with the ... ugly stock non free floating barrel and about a 6-8 lb trigger. My go to load. 56 gr RL22 and 100 gr ttsx would put 3 in .5 moa with boring regularity day in day out. Any bullet any load to the same point of impact. Also...

Yes sir Bob you are the one that enlightened me on the virtues of the 35 whelen. Dad and I have enjoyed discussing the performance that cartridge is capable of. It is surprisingly soft shooting for the power it’s got.

I have been enjoying this forum for close to 5 years and finally decided to join. Unfortunately my budget keeps me hunting close to home.
