Hi Guys.
Is there any American Hunters currently in SA that is returning home (USA) that can take two packets of bullets.
I need to get a packet of 9.3 and 404 Bullets (not ammo) to Phil Massaro.
Rudi
Got some bullets back from clients today.
Thought I’d share.
.458 Win Mag 450gr @ 2200 fps out of a Giraffe Bull (80m Backup shot)
.375 H&H 300gr 2470 fps out of Giraffe Bull 60m
.375 H&H 300gr 2500 fps out of Buffalo Bull at 25m
I’ve been looking for a Winchester 94 for ever and battling to find one. (Hens teeth in South Africa)
So I settled for its “less refined” South American cousin … I was giving a Rossi 92 in 44-40 as a gift this last week, can’t wait to go warthog and bushpig hunting with it.
Now just to find...
Hi Bob
For now I’m focusing on 9.3 and bigger and most important caliber that I own.
I don’t think the .35 has a big following in SA but definitely something to look at once I start making more commercially.
I tested the 416RM this weekend with a new and improved bullet design I made; shooting them into wetpacks.
Changed the Ogive and in doing so adding a bit more copper to the nose section.
400gr at 2300 fps.
L-R 100m, 75m, 50m, 25m
25m
100m
Just got these pics sent to me from a mate I made 9.3 285gr bullets for.
He just came back from a hunt and got a very nice Waterbuck bull.
9.3x62 @ 2280 fps.
Shot the bull from the front into the chest from 120m and found the bullet in the stomach.
Shot my 458 Express shooting off hand at 50m open sights. Not my best grouping but not the bullets’ fault.
Will take shooting sticks to the range next time.
Sticker is 1”
I’ve thought about swaging the point.
But swaging dies I going to take a year plus to get from Corbin.
Maybe in the future but for now they work and feed just great.
What I’ve experienced so far is that with the bigger “meplate” area the entrance wound is bigger and doesn’t close up causing...
I do make 9.3 in 285 gr and .458 in 450gr and 500gr
This was into wet news paper out of 9.3x62 @ 2350 fps
L-R 100m, 75m, 50m, 25m
.458 500gr out of wet newspaper
458 express @ 2250 fps
L-R 25m, 50m
.458 in 500gr and 450gr
With all the stock shortages world wide and irregular supply I couldn’t get my favorite bullets.
So, I started making my own.
My design started of as a Aframe x Barnes X. And ended up as a TBBC x Northfork.
Bonded lead nose with solid shank driving bands.
First for 375 and then went up the...
This year it’s been fairly hot in the Thabazimbi area, so during our hunt in May we bumbed into Black Mamba and Puffadder in the veld while tracking Zebra.
Brass is fairly easy to make.
You can either use 30-06 brass by I prefer using 8x57 brass and fire form them in my rifle.
I got my dies from Huntington’s.
Not quite sure if this qualifies for this topic, if not feel free to move or delete.
But I’ve started making bullets for big bore rifles.
I came up with the design about a year ago while recovering from a hunting injury and couldn’t walk for 10 weeks.
I took a bonded nose cavity of a Aframe...
I got these 180gr HP for my 44 Super Black Hawk from another South African company. (Kriek Bullets)
So yesterday I got bored and turned them into a 260gr Bonded Bullet.
Will test them into wetpacks this weekend and see how they perform.
Problem is not USPS, the problem is South African Postal Service.
Chances are that my parcel will get stole on our side, or take a months to get to me if I’m lucky.
Good afternoon all.
I have a parcel that needs a lift from the US to South Africa.
Currently the parcel is with a family member of mine in Prosper
I got a quote from FedEx but shipping is more that the content of the parcel.
Anyone coming in to South Africa for a hunt that is willing to bring...
I’ve hunted Impala and Warthog using 300gr XTP out of my SBH 7.5”
But recently gone over to a 250gr Solid Copper bullet made by a local bullet manufacturer. My idea behind it that I want to be able to shoot straight through Blue Wildebeest so I can have a good blood trail to follow.
I would love a 284 Win on a Pre 64 M70 Winchester with a 26” barrel.
Either factory original or custom rifle that looks like it came out of the factory.
This will probably be my last bolt action rifle.
This morning was 3 degrees Celsius which is freezing for someone that only has a “real” winter 3 months of the year.
When my two Labrador retrievers don’t want to go outside for a pee I know it’s cold ... lol
We Hunted the weekend of the 21st May on the border between Freestate and Northern Cape.
That Sunday morning while packing up to drive back home was -4 degrees Celsius, and that’s colder than my sub tropical body can handle …. ;-)
Hi Shootist43
I have something called Dedicated Hunter and Dedicated Sport Shooting status.
Which allows me to apply for more firearm than the normal public which may only have 4.
As for multiple rifles in same caliber, you need to convince the licensing dept that the rifles are for different...
Hi all
I’m Rudi from Johannesburg, South Africa.
Started hunting at the age of 6 and haven’t stopped yet.

Brno 602 in 375 H&H
Custom 375 H&H
and then plains game rifles.
Hope to share some...
