I saw very large Kudu in the Limpopo region this year. I think at least 2 that were close to or above 60" The ones shot during our hunt were 52". 54" and 57" and were very nice specimens. If someone got a 60" or better, price would have been the same and the PH would have taken more...

Welcome. This is a fantastic site! You can really get some useful information and the "Daggs boys" on this site are really helpful with tips for successful hunts and information on African hunting.

I agree Namibia is easier to enter with the firearms. During my trip it took a very brief stop on the way to collect the other luggage. No real delay at all. Do we know if this change is the beginning of more restrictions or just a small housekeeping matter?

Yes. I had wanted to take the Hartebeest with a handgun, but the conditions weren't right. I am waiting on the SCI measurements, but the PH and local taxidermist have it at 70" so I am pretty pleased. Regardless of size, it was an awfully fun hunt!

I have shot the 454 and now hunt with the S&W 500. I second the thoughts about the Hornady factory rounds in 300 gr. Very good for these big-bore hand cannons.

Does anyone have any experience with metallic mounts? Copper, bronze, nickel? I am looking for something different for skull mounts. Thanks!

I agree with gillettehunter that collection on a judgment is the hard part - and the part that may deter future conduct. For American Hunters, the key is know if your amounts in controversy are enough to trigger Federal Court jurisdiction. Nothing says "oh crap" like the US Marshals Service...

Hunted Namibia with a .338 McMillan with synthetic stock and stainless barrel. No problems at all. Gun was amazing. Was pleased with the weight as there were some very grueling spot and stalks.

Looking for stories, insights and observations about hunting African plains game with a Smith & Wesson 500. I'm heading to the Limpopo Region in August and have a Blue Wildebeest on tap for the handgun.

I have used a 500 with 350 gr. Hornady rounds on Gemsbok and Springbok. It is a beast and worked great. I suspect you can take anything on the concession with a 500.
