    Bought a Sako Kodiak!!!!!

ok...that's good info and helps me moving forward, so thank you. I agree with all the folks who have commented ... that's really not acceptable. I can't imagine a gun having a problem with that scope...yikes. And I don't think you should have to go with high mounts, making your shots more...

    Bought a Sako Kodiak!!!!!

I think it's the extent the windage adjuster extends/protrudes. Higher power scopes and certain brands have a large dial and, while I agree it should not be an issue given the expense of the rifle, can interfere. I do know, from personal experience, that Sako will help you determine the best...

    Bought a Sako Kodiak!!!!!

If you're clocking a scope 90 degrees instead of looking for a scope that doesn't have the azimuth adjuster interfering with the casing ejection, I would agree it's ridiculous. I also hear so many "I have a friend" stories...that's why I specifically asked for first hand experience.

    Bought a Sako Kodiak!!!!!

I also have a CZ550 in addition to the Sako on order. Love the CZ...great gun for the money. Is your Winchester a post 91 CRF model?

    Bought a Sako Kodiak!!!!!

Maybe you should just roll on and buy something other than Sako...I'm a Sako fan as well as a Tikka fan and not getting emotional about it. We can agree to disagree and the net outcome is zero...I'll buy Sako and you won't.

    Bought a Sako Kodiak!!!!!

I should have been more specific...scope height, magnification/size and configuration all play in it is what I took away. But the point I was trying to make is apparently they're aware of the issue and can advise on scope that will abate the issue. Your points make sense.

    Bought a Sako Kodiak!!!!!

all I can tell you is what Sako told me. You may want to discuss directly with them. They told me scope magnification/size has everything to do with it.

I have a custom model 85 in 375 H&G coming my way, brand new from Sako directly.

    Bought a Sako Kodiak!!!!!

Awesome! Thank you. Actually, that's what I took away from my conversation with Sako. If you're not putting 56mm objectives / uber high powered scopes on, then their likely won't be an issue. Indication was that 3.5x10 size scope should work just fine. I don't see a need for anything bigger for...

    Bought a Sako Kodiak!!!!!

I have not, but definitely will! I did talk to Sako, and to their credit, they told me I needed to consider the optic for the model 85 375 H&H to ensure their was not a shell strike on ejection. They have offered to assess any scope to give me a recommendation on feasibility. So there are...

    Bought a Sako Kodiak!!!!!

Agree...I'm an engineer and have plenty of experience with Murphy. That's where practical experience and FIRST HAND, not second or third, information can be so valuable. I'm really interested in first hand accounts of a modern Sako extractor creating a problem in Africa. Did someone have a...

    Bought a Sako Kodiak!!!!!

Guys ... I appreciate all the great info/opinion on this board. It's truly helpful. I guess my concern is that there's an awful lot of "text book" analysis presented to determine the pros/cons of the various extractor types. I'm looking at purchasing a custom model 85 Sako and this subject is of...
