I have a number of "nice" rifles and I have budget ones. I have a cheap watch and 4 Rolex watches. But I understand what you are saying.
Like you said I spend the money on what i want and really do not care if others like it. It is my money to spend as I please and others can do the same.
The...
I must be doing it wrong. I have 2 rifle that are $6,000 each and either do not wear a watch or if I do while hunting I wear a $20 Casio. I will not bring a Rolex when hunting after having one taken from me when I took it scuba diving. Not going to lose another one and no need to show off to...
My brother and I would take our boats out to the Channel Islands out of Ventura or a place sout of there and get bugs, scallops and fish. We live in the middle of the state in the Modesto area. Down south is about the only place to get Sheepshead fish. Many years ago we would get black, pink...
we have bugs. They are spiney bugs and very much fun to catch. You must use your hands only---no spears. The ones with the big claws are on the east coast.
no wonder I did not get sick. I do not get seasick. Spent a lot of time out on the ocean in small/medium sized boats fishing then scuba or free diving. But I do understand what you are saying.
Here were no bugs by Cal Poly SLO but there was Abs and Pismo Clams that were very large. We would free dive for them in the surf. There were Rock Scallops, fish and crab that we would scuba dive for. We would take a really large pot (that I borrowed from the cafeteria) buy some potatoes, milk...
I would not want to hunt buff with my 338win mag. I do not have a 470/505gibs/458win mag so IF I was to hunt buff I would prefer to use one of my 50BMG rifles with Barnes bullets.
that is a bullet problem which can be corrected by using Barnes A-Frame bullets. Or it could be poor shot placement. I always try to take out 1 or both shoulders and very few required any tracking or went more than 20 yards.
I like Swift A-Frame and sometimes Sirocco bullets. I upgraded from the Nosler PAR I used before. I tried their BT bullets but had poor results on deer and Pronghorn in certain situations. Long ago I used core-locks for our deer that are not much bigger than a jack rabbit.
The A-frames have...
I put on 450,000 miles on my 79 F150 4X4 then it broke a camshaft. Very little as far as repairs goes. Rebuilt the engine and replaced the clutch since it was out anyway. Drove it another 100,500 miles and sold it so I could get a F250 4X4. I also had a Satern I put 287,000 miles on and sold it...
I have one in 308win, 6.5X55 and 7-08. Taken game with all of them. They are a lot nicer to carry/pack arounf than my Rem700 and Ruger M77 bolt action rifles. Mine are not fussy as to ammo and are very accurate.
Put a Leupold VX3 3.5X10x40 scope with duplex reticle and sight in 2.75" high at...
to be honest the only animal I have missed in Africa is warthogs. I have flat out missed several and to this day I am not sure why. All were walking/running shots but I made others that were walking running on all sorts of game including wathogs. They just seem to have my number.
The 120gr 257cal A-frames work fantastic as do the 225gr 338cal A-frames on both trips. First trip was with my daughter for 10 days of hunting and 2nd trip was just myself for 25 days of hunting. Shot many animals with them(also in the USA) in a 257R and 257W as well as a 338win mag. Most all...
I like the Swift A-Frames. Used them in 338win mag(225gr), 257R and 257W(120gr), 30-06(165gr). I also used 100gr TTSX in the 257W and 150gr TTSX in the 30-06 with good results.
I am sure there are other good choices but these were mine. I would like to try the Trophy Bonded Bear Claw bullets.
