Yes take advantage of the bowhunting if you can and I like the idea of having either as an option, you get to experience two totally different hunts and opportunities.
I don't think you will notice the difference in recoil at all, matter of fact I cannot remember the last time I shot at an animal and even felt the recoil. I would also recommend the Barnes TTSX if they shoot well in your rifle. Also nothing wrong with the tried and true Nosler Partition or...
Jerry I grew up in Brookhaven and Clinton. I saw your question about the guncase. I have a tuffpack that has made several trips to Africa. I really like it and would recommend it. Easy to access, can stuff a few clothes into it along with your rifles in soft cases, easy to move around and...
You should have no problem hunting/sighting the game you have indentified. Practice those shooting skills off the sticks, and getting set up to shoot from different positions. Good luck with your hunt.
Good luck on your hunt and learning a new language. I have been picking up words and phrases over the last ten years. How are you planning on learning the language?
So where does one go to get a 60 inch Kudu?
If you are willing to put in the time/legwork we have a free range area in South Africa that one can find 60 inchers. It is a physical hunt in the Soutpansberg mountains in the Limpopo Province.
Don't have any pics handy but if I had to do my kudu mounts over I would have all of them on pedestals instead of wall mounting. Makes it a lot more convenient for placement.
I have used a stainless synthetic rifle several times and no problems at all. If you are concerned you could always have the rifle/stock film dipped or you can use the camo tape to break it up a little bit, I don't think it will be a probem as is though.
Everything is good but my favorite probably has been nyala tenderloin stuffed with cream cheese and jalapenos. Second favorite is simple, tomato and onion sandwiches cooked over the fire, vetkoek is also delicious and the gemsbok stew over rice that was mentioned above, eland steaks over the...
Lots of good information above so no use in repeating the same. Take your time and look over everything and feel free to ask whatever questions you have no matter how simple you think they might be. We are here to help and assist!
The best advice is to know who your are dealing with. Every situation is different as I assist with booking/advertising and am a company employee. I do not receive any cuts or deals and there is no increase in the cost associated with my assistance.
I have one and I usually neck 8mm Rem Mag brass up or you can neck 375 H&H down and then fireform. Great caliber! I like the North Fork and Swift A-frames in mine.
Sounds like you have a great game plan! Best of luck and enjoy every minute! We approach many clients with these same options, in the end we cater to fulfill the expectations of the client to make their safari a success.
I took my Blue Wildebeest at approximately 75 yards using a 358 STA and 250 grain North Fork bonded soft. The shot was slightly quartering towards me, hit it just in front of the left shoulder. The wildebeest went approximately 100 yards and dropped. The bullet was found on the opposite side...
Thumbs up for the TuffPak. If you get one be sure to get the sack that goes inside with it. I also put an inch of foam in the bottom. I usually take two rifles, put each rifle into a soft case and into the sack and then into the Tuffpak. You can stuff a few clothes or other items around as...
Thanks for all the information. I have always been a fan of cut to tip fixed blade broadheads. Takes a little time to get them to fly right but it is worth it in the end.
Absolutely nothing wrong with going for bow only. There are many outfitters who have established bow hunting areas. The only thing I may suggest is don't limit yourself to only bow hunting, especially if this is your first trip over. Typically for bow hunting you will be sitting in a blind or...
Either rifle would be fine. There is an advantage with the .308 with heavier bullets and also if you and your ammo were to be seperated during travel over, you are probably not going to readily find any 270 WSM ammo anywhere.
Pick a good bonded bullet of your choice, i.e. Nosler Partition...
