I have a Winchester CRF action that someday will either be a 350 Remington Magnum or a 9.3x350 Sisk, But I've been bite by the African bug and everything is on hold for now!
A custom Remington 700 with McMillan stock, Douglas barrel, and Timney trigger. Also a not quite finished project Interarms MK X that will eventually have Express sites, cerakoted blue finish, and a custom wood stock.
My two favorite calibers are the 358 Norma Magnum and the 416 Remington...
Great scope I'm running one on a 416 Remington Magnum and after about 100 or so rounds it's still holding up fine and will be making a trip in June to Africa for Cape buffalo! I honestly think this is the perfect offic for a big bore rifle going to Africa,
Dakota 76 416 Remington Magnum,
Winchester model 70 classic super Express 416 Remington mag, Ruger No1 416 Remington mag and the one Winchester model 70 classic stainless 375H&H mag.
I've not hunted Cape Buffalo yet, I hope to remedy that in June. The one thing I can add is that in my experience hunting here in the United States has taught me "If you have to ask yourself if it's enough gun then it's probably not enough gun"! The decision is up to the individual but I can...
I have the same issue last August I bought a Dakota 76 made in 1989 in 416 Remington Magnum it had a sister rifle and I really would like to find that rifle someday and purchase it, the sister rifle was a 300 H&H serial number 0700-1.
You could try putting the rifle in the freezer for a while and try removing the stock, I've had to do it before with old rifles to get them out of their stocks! Sometimes the wood swells and by freezing you get it to shrink back up a little bit!
I'll be going to South Africa for Cape buffalo and Sable in June I plan on taking my Dakota 76 416 Remington mag and my Chapuis 470 Nitro double. The buffalo's the primary target but once the buffalo's done I'll hunt whatever Africa has to offer with the 416 and a 400 grain Swift A-frame bullet!
June 6th for the wife and I. The wife is also getting tired of watching videos of Cape Buffalo and African hunting, but she is excited to be going on a adventure!
I going to be taking my first trip to South Africa in June to hunt Cape Buffalo and Sable, I plan on adding Zebra and Kudu to my list. Hopefully the wife and I will get drawn for ND Antelope this year, then ND archery Deer for the first time in about 5 years! The Kidney dialysis and transplant...
Well if you're not capable of saving the money to buy the things you want without putting it on the credit card well that's on you! My trip is paid for because I saved my money and work overtime when I could.
And I would agree with you on that! I have used 338 win mag cases in the past when that was all you could get and they work however I limit my firings to three times and after that I discard the case. Back in the early '90s when I first started playing with the 358 normal mag I did have a case...
I have to disagree with you on that, I own a Dakota 76 416 Remington Magnum, a 470 double, and I'm planning my first cape buffalo hunt for June. I make well under $100,000 a year and I'm definitely not part of the 1% but if you want something bad enough you can make it happen!
I hate to disagree with you but the 358 norma Magnum is not a necked up 338 Winchester mag! The 358 norma Magnum was introduced two years before the 338 Winchester! Making cases for the 358 Norma mag from 338 win mag can be problematic as you have to blow the shoulder forward weakening the case...
I believe Brandon fromTsala Safaris is going to be in Gillette Wyoming sometime in February for a meet and greet, if you get a chance you might want to go and he could definitely help you set up the Safari of your dreams!
I have found that the recoil of a three and a half inch turkey load far exceeds even that of my 470 Nitro double! When I ordered my 470 I wasn't sure if I'd made a mistake whether I could handle rhe recoil or not. So I decided to take my Browning Auto five three and a half inch out with turkey...
Did Dakota Taxidermy mount the Rhino for you? The reason why I asked is they mounted one for a person from Minnesota and it looks just like the one you've got.
I mounted the patrol 6 1-6x24 on my Dakota 76 416 Remington Magnum and it'll be going with me for my cape buffalo hunt in June of 2024! So far I really like the scope and think it will be perfect for dangerous game hunting. I don't care for the CDS dials on this type of scope especially when...
