For Sale Ruger M77 Mkii 6.5x55

I picked up the 6.5 tonight and it was far nicer than TX_GreatPlains even described. Beautiful rifle, packaged well with great communication. I would recommend him and do business with him anytime.

    Gunsmithing Machinery & Gauges

As a former Master Mold Maker who sold off a lot of my bigger diameter tools such as calipers and micrometers, that is a fantastic deal on the calipers. The problem today is that a lot of people don't know how to use them if they don't have a dial to read. Explaining to someone who hasn't used...

TX is putting up some fantastic guns. Although I have not received the 6.5 yet, he is a great guy to deal with and everything has gone well. I will update when I get it.

    Pay It Forward-Free

Two years ago I walked into a local gun shop hoping to find a 45/70. SE PA had just become a "straight walled cartridge" area for deer and I wanted to optimize my local deer hunting with a rifle. On the rack was a beautiful 1984 Marlin .444 that looked like it had never been shot. At this point...

I could really use these. I'll take them on the condition that I have not broken any rules by requesting them since I did get dies recently (but did post up bullets in response). I'll take the .444 brass. Pm coming

Posting up a box of 50 Hornady .375 270 grain spire points to repay a debt. Thanks AZDave! A little surface tarnish but perfect otherwise. I only opened the box to make sure there were 50. Shipped to CONUS. Heading out of town tomorrow so give me a few days to get to the post office. Thanks.

Wanted Remington 1100 or 1187 Special Field

I bought a 20g 870 Special Field when they first came out. Great grouse gun but couldn't hit a rabbit with it to save my life. I think the English stock prevented a good, fast, pivot downward to get on a rabbit. I'm sorry I ever sold it and never see them for sale. Good luck!

Stock Inletting question - Mauser 98 25-06 custom in Boyd's stock

All great advice here but just to add to Steve and John's comment. Light a candle with a long wick that makes some smoke. Hold the floor plate edges along where the smoke comes off. It will leave a sooty coating on the metal. Lightly tap it into place and wherever there is black soot on the...

Wanted Remington .444 Marlin 240 Grain Bullets Only

Bob, I was told the Hornady XTP 240 was only good for 1400fps or so (.44 Mag). I'll try and get some of those if you think they can go that high. Thank you.

Wanted Remington .444 Marlin 240 Grain Bullets Only

Thanks guys. I tried the Hornady factory FTX loads this year and had very erratic performance on deer. I also don't like the short cases and prefer to reload the full size brass. Bullets listed for .44 Mag usually are not rated for velocities much over 1400fps and I want to load to about 2000...

Wanted Remington .444 Marlin 240 Grain Bullets Only

I know this is a long shot but I am looking for 100 or more Remington brand bullets for the Marlin .444. Specifically, the 240 grain flat nose bullet. Not loaded ammo, just the bullets. Thanks.

    Converting a P14 enfield

I agree with Bob on every aspect and absolutley love both the P14 and 1917. Back in the late 80's you could pick these actions up for $30-$40 and even though some were demilled, they could easily be made into great rifles. I had a batch of Winchester demills with barrels that simply had a hole...

    .338 Bullets

Bob, I built mine on a 1917 Enfield action with a Douglas Air Gage barrel for just that reason. I load the Sierra 225 BTs when I can get them. Being a Pennsylvania deer hunter who grew up hunting the big woods country, I also have a soft spot for the .35 Remington (Remington 141) and as a kid...

    .338 Bullets

Bob, already a big fan of the Whelen and all .35s in general. I figure my .35 Whelen covers me well on anything I might need a .338 for. I may go the sell route at some point. I appreciate all of the comments.

    .338 Bullets

I just came into a large quantity of .338 bullets. The big question is: Do I add a .338 to the cabinet or sell the bullets or both? I really do not need another rifle and with the scarcity of bullets, I feel I should help out those in need but on the other hand, I dread the hassle of waiting on...

    Stock repair strong wood putty

I once acraglassed a beautiful piece of tigertail maple back together after someone (not me) forgot to put the release agent on the action and barrel and literally beat on the barrel to get it out. It cracked in half at the thinnest part of the magazine box cut out. Apllied the runny acraglass...

New Russell Moccasin Lightweight Snake Boots

Great boots. I've had a pair like this since the late 1980's that I wear for turkey hunting and they still are in great shape. Well worth the money and this is an exceptional deal.

Protecting rifle stocks in the safe

I have found that by alternating rifles, one pointed up and the next pointed down, I am able to get more room and it keeps the bolts away. Just a thought. I also picked up an old wood cabinet for the less expensive .22s and such and have it stashed in a hidden location.

    A Different Kind of Hunt

Very few people in this world get to do what they want to do, follow their passion and MAKE A LIVING. If they did we would all be out hunting!! You need to pay bills, build wealth and work any job you can to do that. In your down time, you can pursue your "passion". I know quite a few people in...

    Ideas for our resident artisan's

I hunted in Northern Alberta years ago and one of the guides, who did all of the skinning, had a custom made, surgical grade, small scale knife set for splitting ears, lips and other facial work. Does anyone here like quarter-bores?

As a young man in my twentys, I was mentored in all things gun related by an old time gunsmith who was a Korean war vet. He always spoke the quarter bore bible ( he built dozens of .257 Roberts and 250/3000s) but being young and knowing everything, I spent my time building .30 cals and magnums...

    Does anyone here like quarter-bores?

I picked up a tang safety Ruger 77 in .308 for an unbelievable price and sent it to ER Shaw for rebarrel/chamber in .250/3000 and it has quickly become one of my favorite rifles for deer/varmints.

I just completed a fantastic transaction with AZDave. Although relatively new to the site, Dave allowed me the opportunity to buy my first big bore (his .375 Ruger African). This was my first online purchase and I wasn't sure how it worked. On a call to discuss, Dave explained the entire...

    U.S. online firearms sales payment

Although I am a short time member who doesn't post much, a "regular" on here recently trusted me to send him a personal check and I had no problem with him waiting to ship the rifle until my check cleared. Mutual trust goes a long way and I knew by his posts on here I could trust him. We did...

    North American big 5

How about including the inexperienced hunter you are mentoring (and invited as a good will gesture) who almost blows your head off unloading his rifle at dark in the middle of nowhere Wyoming and then blames the gun? That is America's most dangerous thing while hunting! And trust me, it was a...

Thanks all. I will try what you have all said. It would be a 600 mile round trip to his town and I'd be willing to do it but he is going to have to answer some questions first. I'll let you know what happens and may take sierraone up on an opinion if all else fails.
