Day 6 Afternoon Wintershoek/Johnny Vivier Safaris
After lunch and some R & R with Debbie, Jacques asked if I wanted to hunt this afternoon. I of course said I would. He then asked what I'd like to hunt. I was contemplating red heartebeest but for some reason Mountain Reedbuck intriuged me...
Day 6 morning Wintershoek/ Johnny Vivier Safaris
I woke early again, made the coffee and waited for Jacques to arrive. I looked over the mounts on the wall admiring them and trying to figure out what I'd like to hunt.
Jacques arrived and joined me in a cup of coffee and said "so what will we...
Day 5 Wintershoek/Johnny Vivier Safaris
On day 5 I decided to sleep in with my honey and spend a little time with her as she had been a good sport letting me hunt my azz off. We had a nice breakfast and just lounged by the Jacuzzi and soaked up some sun. For lunch we joined Jacques...
Day 4 Wintershork Johnny Vivier Safaris
Morning came on day 4 and a cup of coffee and we were off in the cruiser again to search for Gemsbok. We had seen some really nice ones in our travels, some super long females but I decided I would rather try and take a good mature male. We searched for...
Day 3 Wintershoek Johnny Vivier Safaris
So far things have been beyond expectations, today would take that further.Same routine, I awake early beat everyone to the dining lodge and start the coffee. Debbie has had enough of hunting and sleeps in so it's just me, Jacques and Jannie. We head out...
Day 2 Wintershoek Johnny Vivier Safaris
After a semi good nights sleep and a few cups of coffee,me my PH Jacques and driver/tracker Jannie headed out on the cruiser looking for Zebra. The zebra here were very elusive and never stayed in one spot. We cut some fresh tracks and got off the cruiser...
We arrived at Thuru Lodge around 1 PM and after a warm greeting by the staff,we where shown to our suite to get settled. We had lunch and went to the range to check zero of my rifle(Cooper.338-06 shooting 185 gr TTSX)Debbie shot my Ph Jacques' 7 mm REM mag that had a suppresor. She originally had...
I'd bet far fewer animals would be wounded if the macho crowd touting their big 375's and such realized they really can't shoot them well ...I've shot deer with every thing from .22-250 on up thru a 12ga slug and .300 Weatherby....of the 3 that where shot with the .22-250AI and 62gr TSX 2...
Those that have no experience seem to do the most guessing
.22-250AI 62gr TSX thru both shoulders bullets still going but deer dropped on the spot laser ranged 203 yds
Bingo ....50mm is hype and won't net you much light gathering if any but will ad bulk and a higher scope profile...4x12 is more magnification than need on a 30-06 don't care for the eye releif on them either....If you wanna splurge get a Leupold VX3 3.5x10x40 if not a VX2 3x9x40 will get it done...
Yes why wouldn't I want to know the prices upfront, don't buy anything without knowing how much it costs 1st....why waste my time and your time if the prices are not what I am looking for?
I don't need all the frills but what the heck I ain't turning it down! I have ruffed it plenty of times in a spike camp with no running water or toilet.... It's expensive to get to and hunt Africa so it might as well be comfortable and special. Bringing my future wife along and it better be 5...
Thanks for all the well wishes!....Also I highly recomend Lori at Travel Express for all of your travel need. Her prices are great and flight arrangments are superior to every one elses!
Yes especially since she isn't a hunter!
Johnny Vivier has a beautiful luxury camp with pool and spa so I'm sure she will have a great time also.... How could she not she will be with me!
