Help me decide: which Plains Game Bullet for my 7mm-08?

I love my 7mm08 but..... be mindful of the fact that outside of the US, ammo is virtually non-existent in this calibre especially SA/Zim/Moz etc. After all the issues of getting my beloved 7mm08 to Africa...my ammo never made it and, to this day, no one has any idea where it is! Basically that...

What sticks in your mind about Africa?

‘We’ll make a plan’ That’ll resonate with many and be a mystery for some. Those words and the upward pointing tails of warthog running off to fight another day pretty much capture it for me. FN

He had Thomas Cromwell, a man with an axe, and a ‘do as I say or I’ll kill you’ sort of attitude. One can only marvel at the overt protection of ‘the Crown Jewels’ which merely served to reinforce the adage ‘many a man had a double garage but only stores a bicycle’ FN

    Snap Caps

Take a fired case and resize and decap. I also drill mine in the case wall so they are very obviously inert. Get a 17HMR fired case and a hard eraser. Bang the neck of the 17HMR case into the eraser and twist it out. Then, with a pin or similar, pick out the rubber plug in the neck of the 17HMR...

Does SAKO make scope mounts that come off and rezero?

I never really got on with the QD mounts. I never changed stuff over in the field so just used a hex torque wrench at home. I would imagine QD's on a dovetail rail could be quite the challenge FN

Does SAKO make scope mounts that come off and rezero?

Yes. The optilock scope mounts are very good. I’d always suggest torquing them for repeatability and it really important to make sure the dovetails on the action are super clean. I used to regularly change out a 3-9x50 with a 1-4x24 and had very few zero issues. Hope that helps FN

Hunting distances- how far is too far?

It’s bench vs reality. If you can shoot a beer mat (UK term meaning about a 3 inch disc) at 100 from sticks or off hand. There is a good chance you’ll eat…that’s assuming you have the appropriate level of field craft to get close enough to make it work. I do think we’ve forgotten that getting...

I think the general consensus from the above is that anything from x12 downwards will be just fine.
