My friend, I am with you. After watching two TV shows where the hunters were bragging about their return to Africa for another great safari and then watching them kill all their animals out of a blind built over a concrete water hole I am sick. Do they not know the difference between hunting...
It appears as though KZN is the place to hunt Common Reedbuck. I took this 15 1/4" in KZN while on a Nyala hunt. I passed up a 12"er early that evening in hopes of seeing something a bit bigger. I got lucky and it paid off. Congratulations to you on a great trophy.
Also have a CZ 550 American in 416 Rigby and have used it on several hunts for Cape Buffalo. The gun has always fired religiously. One of the best shooting rifles I own. I hope you get your problem straightened out because I believe the CZ is one heck of a gun for the money. Good luck.
I've used the 165gr in the 300 Win on numerous game animals with very good success. My zebra went less than 30 yards on a going away quartering shot. The only problem I had was one bullet fired at a Blue Wildebeeste came apart and only the back part of the bullet was left in the opposite side...
Hi M. Egan,
Thanks for the Buff advice and yes I did take a 42 1/4 Gemsbok which the PH claims was the largest ever shot on that concession. Sometimes you are just in the right place at the right time and lady luck smiles on you.
Real men shoot whatever gets the job done and I would bet the 375 H&H has proven that more often than any other caliber. Personally I use a 416 Rigby on Buff, but would have no problem using a 375 H&H. You only need that big 600 Nitro double if you are going to shoot them in the bum just to...
Not counting the good old 22LR. I like the traditional calibers, no wildcats.
264 Win Mag (will shoot anything from 100gr - 140gr equally well)
300 Win Mag (Sako and Rem 700) One likes 165 TSX the other 180 Win Supreme Elite
416 Rigby (Hornady 400gr DGS & DGX)
Are you for real? I contacted you six months ago about a elephant and buffalo hunt which you quoted at $23,000. You said to look you up at the Harrisburg, PA USA show in Feb and we would iron out the details. I looked for you at the show and you were nowhere to be found even though you were...
:) Hello from Pennsylvania. Have hunted South Africa three times and am heading back this October for my first Cape Buffalo hunt. My son and I hunted Kwazulu-Natal region this past April and ended up taking a monster Common Reedbuck. Looking forward to any words of advice you veteran buffalo...
