Peregrine 480gr VRG-3 Vs Hornady 480gr DGX Bullet Performance

I only just recently learned about peregrine and was considering loading a batch of plainsmaster in .338 win mag for Alaska and African game and was wondering is any one has any experience in that bullet or caliber?

    Light weight plains games rifles

so after going around and around, I went with a sauer and son's 100 xt in 7mm rm. Talley rings, a steiner in 12x56. It's light enough that walking with a sling isn't miserable, and very accurate. So far it seems to be spot on with 150 gr ammo. In a weekend or two I plan to take it out and try...

Why no to the rem 700?

I personally would not take anything that wasn't designed, field tested, and proven to be reliable to chase any thing that could kill or maim. There are plenty of affordable mass produced rifles in "the right caliber" that do great at the range when going through the motions, but africa is...

    Bloody idiot

What delays me is not money or time, but an unforeseeable set of political circumstances. I am a contractor who works in special aviation services, and my career has taken me to Kuwait, where I work and live as an expat. The money if great and the vacation days are 30+, but what wrecked my plans...

    Light weight plains games rifles

I'm looking into light weight hunting rifles for plains game and north American game. I was thinking a browning xbolt stalker or a tika t3 superlight in 7mm rem mag. Thoughts, comments, experiences?

    Any book recommendations

J.H Patterson and Jim Corbett are where I got my first taste. If you open to good adventure tales that aren't just Africa, try Peter Freuchen's Arctic adventure.

    Heym or Dakota?

All of these are good points to consider, I think I am swayed to the Heym side. Considering that after I get proficient with the rifle, I plan on Alaskan brown bear to be the first hunt with it. And again probably not even until 2024. I know there have been a lot of good comments on going the...

    Hello from Dallas and Kuwait!

It certainly has it's moments, my work keeps me in Kuwait year round except for my vacation days. It's strange when you can say 80° F feels like winter....when I start going on Arctic hunts I have no idea how I'll be able to train for that.

    Heym or Dakota?

To begin, I am looking at getting in the near future one solid field rifle for the occasional large and dangerous game hunt down the road. Money and time means that I don't get to live every year on safari. After a lot of consideration I decided that my DGR will be a .416 Rigby. Now here is the...

    Hello from Dallas and Kuwait!

Howdy, I've been a long time reader, first time...signer upper?....any who I am here to read and learn. My first safari was a plains game hunt last year down in the Eastern cape where I bagged Eland, Kudu, nyala, black wildebeest, blesbuck, red lechwe, water buck, impala, spring buck, and...
