The Perfect Shot by Kevin Robertson

Kevins books goes for premium prices these days. Glad I bought mine for a silly dollar back 14 years ago. The books are recommended. Love particular his book on buffalohunting. That one I have is a limited edition from Safari Press. Not many for sale but one. Why the typing is with fat letters...

Suitable versatile Rifle types for mixed Bag

Well Phil. Its like asking for a car that works well on offroad and racetrack. A M98 in .30-06 or 9,3mm and you are close. If bear, lions and elephant later show up on the menu, then a 458 LOtt might be what you really want.

It would be very difficult to make a poll in Russia to get a truthful picture of how much the russians trust their media. Most media in Russia are Stateowned media that will never speak against the regime. The few independed media who do excist have a tradition to get their journalist killed if...

New to me 6.5x54 Mauser small ring 98

Its not a smallring Mauser for one thing. But its a nice rifle for sure. There were a few gunmakers that made the 6,5mm Schönauer in M98 action in that period. The proof codes can usually tell whether this rifle was a commercial or a military action to begin with. For me it is a commercial gun...

The reaction is silence. Angela Merkel who made the agreement with Russia was a communist in discuise. She has done more damage on Germany than Hitler ever did. Midland gun company

I have handled a Midland .303 doublerifle in Copenhagen. Very heavy for a .303 but for a boxlock it had "purdey" wood. Very attractive gun but again one would feel one is hauling around with an anvil. My C&H .500ex is much lighter.

    James Woodward gunbook

I have had the time to go through this new book. Yes there are a lot about over/under guns, but equally about anything else too. If one is into SxS and english(Woodward) gunhistory then this book will be a good addition to the gunlibrary(if there are anymore left).

What to pair with a .450/400 3" double?

Neither of the calibers you mention are bad. All good. The question is whether you want to go " full brit" for your African safari battery?....Then the there is no point of return. The .300HH, 318WR or .333Jeffery is a good companion to your .450/400 Jeffery. I would go for a straight wall...

Love rifle indeed. This H&H is made on a "Climax" action which was patent in 1878(If I recall correct) which H&Hs real first succesful hammerless system. I doubt many full nitroloads went into these type actions. Blackpowder express cartridges and shotgun/paradox primarily. It was replaced...

Yes. With a bit of reloaders magic. However, one does not buy a .30-30 thinking:" I can get it up to a .30-06" or one buys a .375Win thinking: "I can get it up to a .375H&H".. The 10,75x68 Mauser is made for boars, stags and bears or similar size animals on other continents. If one wants a...

I would consider my .500ex a "lowpower bore"(if that catagory excist) . Yes I know .500cal is normally here in 2023 considered a big bore and it is.
