Bob, that looks nice. I duracoated my 35 Whelen barrel in flat black, it matched the Savage blued action well. It sells for $45.95 here in the US. Barrel prep is easy and you just but three coats on just like spray paint, and let it cure for three to four weeks before hard use.

We do it because it is fun to us. What load powder are you using with the 275gr. in your 35 Whelen?

Yes there are a number of 9.3 cartridges, not confusing them. I only said similar not the same, yes the 9.3x64 is faster but not enough to make up for the wrong bullets or shot placement and if those two things are not met it's a bad day with any caliber/cartridge.

The 9.3 is only .008 of an inch larger in diameter witch is not enough for a huge difference. I have looked in my Woodleigh loading manual and in comparing the 35 and all the 9.3 cartridges there really is not that much difference. If the 9.3 is what you like by all means use it, they are good...

I don't think those universal guns and test barrels are as close to real world rifles that we use as the manufactures want us to think they are.

That's why we start below the max and work up.

They list 70gr. of cfe223 as their max load with a universal 24" 1-12 twist barrel.

Sierra list max velocity of the 225 game king with cfe223 at 2900 fps. That seams to be getting pretty hot, what do you think?

The 35 whelen with a 250gr. bullet will more than likely kill more then I'll ever get the chance to shoot, I just have the bug to try some 275's just to do it.

I am going to try CFE223 in 222rem., 308win., 32win. spl., and 35whelen, if I can get reasonable velocity and good accuracy I'll be happy. Is your inability to get some of the newer powders do to the currant covid-19 or just crazy laws?

I have had good results with CFE223 in 30-30 Win. and 400 Whelen, I will be trying it in a number of other cartridges too. If I get good results in them I will have few powders to have to get. The only problem there may be getting enough of it.

My dies are CH4D, I got them with the rifle and my first batch of Quality Cartridge brass. I was glade I was able to get it all together and from the guy that had it built, that way I felt I had a better chance of every thing being right, and it is. I love it. Dies work grate
