Just for interests sake I own a very similar rifle, serial number 42751. I had it verified by WR and it was completed in March 1951.
Mine is a "Best Grade" and most of the ,425WR's didn't have the extended magazine nor the side clips.

The side clips are two little spring loaded "fingers" that jutted out from the top sides of the action and were supposed to stop the uppermost cartridge from raising up too far and causing an issue with the bolt not clasping the cartridge correctly when sliding into battery. More of a gimmick IMHO.
As an aside I got my rifle from my late step father who swopped it for a .375 H&H, plain Jane rifle, from the original owner whom he was in the BSAP in the old Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia) so I am the third owner. It has the original owner's name engraved on the barrel next to the rear sight...
