    Traveling with rifles to Namibia

Morning, I'm planning on traveling to Namibia mid-october and we're scrambling through the process of getting airfare etc. This was a pivot from our original plan of hunting in SA. In working with our travel agent there are two choices for flying either Ethiopian airlines or Qatar. Both...

South Africa to Reopen February 2021

We're working that today, but we might be on the same flight from Doha. There were some concerns about bringing firearms on one of the airlines, which airline are you using?

South Africa to Reopen February 2021

I think we found an out. Our outfitter has pivoted to Namibia, and it looks like we're going to go there instead. Same dates, we just need to get our brain inspected with a q-tip before we leave.

    How far is too far?

Do you think you were so close that the bullet just went right through the buck and was moving too fast to expand? Or was it a hasty shot?

    How far is too far?

Some real interesting responses, and a lot of people who aren't a fan. I'll arguably say being able to stalk nice and close to an animal can be as complicated as taking a long distance shot on an animal. I had a situation where we spotted a beautiful Bull elk standing on the side of a hill...

    Namibian borders open 1 September

Awesome to hear, we have a hunt originally planned for SA but pivoted to Namibia. A couple of days later is when they closed their borders. This made my day.

    300 Winchester Magnum Load Development

I was finally able to get some range time this past weekend. I've sorted by Velocity SD. One thing I've noticed is that the rifle does like the Nosler Partion, if you compare the Spread and the SD. I also begin to git some loads that left a sticky action that was a little tough to open. For...

That's awesome to hear. I'm slowly getting my wife on board with everything, but I'm also trying to do a little expectation management.

Has Anyone flown Internationally since COVID?

I was on a plane to Iceland when President Trump came out and said that they were closing off all traffic from Europe. Boss and I couldn't decide if I should work from home when I get back, by the time I got home the office had closed down and been closed ever since.

Guess RSA is not opening anytime soon...

I saw an article posted on another forum post saying RSA will probably not open until November for US travelers. I thought I saw somewhere else that there was going to be a meeting within RSA gov't with the hunting organizations lobbying for an earlier opening. Has anyone seen anything similar...

    Carbon Fibre Stocks

I've done two rifle builds with Carbon Fiber, both using Manners. I'm disappointed by Manners lead time taking several months to complete, and I don' even want to think of the situation now during COVID, but they do deliver a really nice product. If I build another rifle I would like to try AG...

    The origins of fine stockwood

I've bought wood from Cook Woods a few times. Never disappointed with what I received. I ordered knife scales once to make 1911 grips, I received a phone call from the company explaining each piece I was ordering. I never got around to making those grips, but still have the blanks.

Is any kind of hearing protection used on safari?

I like to use the foam ear plugs that are connected to each other with hard plastic band. I keep them around my neck until it is time to shoot. https://www.homedepot.com/p/3M-Banded-Style-Hearing-Protector-90537-6DC/202560022

    300 Winchester Magnum Load Development

A lot of people really like RE 22 and H1000. I have an order in for H1000 and will try and grab RE 22 when I have a chance.
