The other thread I made about the Lott to Rigby conversion is almost a year old now. I never even got that rifle as my order was cancelled due to invalid inventory if I recall. It's almost a year later and we're talking about a completely different gun here. Old news.

Kind of late replying, but at least with a Ruger No. 1 I had one rechambered from 458 Win Mag to 458 Lott a while back. Cost was $125 total. With the opening of the bolt face needed I'd guess something like $200-250 or so?

I'd take a good look at the Winchester Model 70 Safari Express in 375 H&H. It isn't a true large Magnum action like the Ruger RSM or CZ 550, just a modified version of their standard long action with a .375 cartridge class bolt face. But it's a very well reviewed and praised rifle.

I don't think they will work in my 416 Rem Mag. The website says they need a 1:13" or faster twist (my 416 is 1:14") and it says they are specifically geared toward the 416 Barrett which is a gimped down 50 BMG for ban states.

I love the No. 1 but would never hunt dangerous game with one. For other stuff I am perfectly happy with them and they do a great job. I can run them pretty fast and probably fast enough for a quick follow-up shot but even so I would still not feel comfortable with one in a dangerous situation...

Thank you! They do still do the black tip but it is only on their Super Grade models now, and they don't chamber those in any of the safari cartridges, unfortunately. The Super Grades are real classy looking rifles.

It depends on what you're comfortable with. In my case I am comfortable shooting out to 500 yards at a stationary animal or one that is moving slowly. I've never shot over 500 yards and won't attempt to take an animal at a distance I have not practiced becoming efficient at.
