    Quebec Caribou Tips?

I hunted with Leaf River in 2014. It was one of my favorite hunts. I actually just picked my bull up from the taxidermist last weekend. You didn't say if you were on a guided or semi guided hunt. I was on a semi guided hunt and it was still a 2 bull limit. I shot my first bull day one. He was an...

Yes, the leadwood chairs. Unbelievably heavy, but I did hoist them! Justus and Karla were great hosts, it may be a couple years but I will be going back!

I just received word that they had located my sons black wildebeest shortly after we departed. Unfortunately the cape was spoiled ( as expected) . I truly wish we had pictures. It was an animal we hadn't considered, and a spur of the moment decision to take it was based on the quality. The bull...

We were now into our 5th hunting day, and considering the success that I had the previous day, I wouldn't need to pull the trigger again. We headed out bright ans early to try to find a big kudu bull or locate a zebra. I had purchased a package for Austin that included a Burchells Zebra. At this...

Can you leave your locked ammunition box in your checked baggage with South African Air?

I just returned from South Africa and flew SAA from Joburg to Windhoek. I used the orange mtm boxes, and I had to remove them on my way to namibia. They put them in seperate SAA bags and tagged them. On the return flight they allowed them to stay in my checked luggage.

As we sat around having coffee the morning of our fourth day, I wondered when we would slow down. We had been taking great trophies almost every hunt, but we hadn't tackled the bucket list yet (Austins Zebra, my eland). Would we hit the wall at some point? Fortunately for me, today would not be...

We continued on to the open pastures at the back of the property to look for a gemsbok or hartebeest. We soon located a pair of gemsbok that were bedded with some blue wildebeest. On my previous hunt to Zimbabwe, i was not overly impressed with blue wildebeest. They seemed to be a little dull...

NAMIBIA: AfriHunt Safaris Hunt Report Otavi Mountains

Our third morning began in pursuit of our wounded wildebeest bull. We were very optistic that we would find the group of four bulls in close proximity to where we had left them the previous evening, and hoped our bull would have expired over night. It was not to be, as we bumped into our bulls...

NAMIBIA: AfriHunt Safaris Hunt Report Otavi Mountains

After 16 long years I was able to return to Africa for a short family vacation. As a follow up to my first trip to Zimbabwe, I decided that I wanted to add the desert species to my trophy room, so after a bit of research, my wife, son, and I were booked to hunt with Justus Britt of Afrihunt...

    Auction Hunts

Like most have said, you really need to research the outfitter. There can be some spectacular bargains, but i would be especially leary of hunts that don't list trophy fees. I may go to 3-4 banquets that have the same outfitters donating at each of them. Makes you wonder how they have afford it...

    Trail Cams for Leopard Hunting

I would, like so many people have, advise you to ask your outfitter to pre bait if it isn't already part of their routine. And i would clarify for how long prior to your arrival in camp those baits are too be hung. See how long they expect it to take for the cat to find a bait and get into a...

Transportation to and from the hunt area, why a seperate charge on a package hunt?

The one's that irritate me are the per person pricing- how can they rationalize charging a per person rate when they have the same expenses (fuel, drivers, maintenance, etc.) whether it is one or ten people traveling. Another one that that gets me are the observer fees some of these places...

Illegal Land Seizures and Arnold Payne

I never said stupid- just uninformed. I am sure the majority of hunters who book a trip to Africa have never read or seen forums like this. I would hope those of us who follow forums like this would refrain from hunting with questionable outfitters, but i suspect that the readers of these forums...

Illegal Land Seizures and Arnold Payne

Unfortunately, the uninformed american hunter will still end up booking hunts to travel to the Save, and will unknowingly support the unscrupulous "outfitters" that will be lined up to make what they can before the whole place is gutted. Some unknowing hunter will stumble into the new...

Illegal Land Seizures and Arnold Payne

It is a shame to see what Zimbabwe is becoming. What some of these "politically" connected operators are doing is nothing more than raping and pillaging lands they know will be destroyed for a quick buck. It is especially disheartening to know it is happening in the Save. That was the one place...

ZIMBABWE: Has Anyone Experienced A Hunt With Wayne Jardine In Zimbabwe

I hunted with Zim Africa a long time ago (2000)- i think Wayne was in camp then working for Sean and Basil Steyn. I was fortunate to hunt with Gary Hopkins, and Tristan Peacock. I also met Brian van Blerk while there. These guy's were all great, and I would hunt with any one of them again. As...
