I might be interested in trading you an unused CZ 550 FS in 30-06. I acquired two of these some years ago and use one as my primary deer rifle, and the other has sat unused in my safe.
I live in northern Wisconsin, so maybe we could meet halfway if you are interested?
Check all of your existing compasses and see if any are called "Global" or have a "global needle". If so, then you already have one that is weighted for use in the southern hemisphere.
I have a Suunto Global. It's nice and light. You don't even notice you have it on you, until you need it...
I have a "Mannlicher style" CZ 550 FS as well (from the first decade of the 2000s), and mine has a 3 position safety from the factory. From what I read, only the 550 FS versions had the 3 position safety. Does yours only have two positions??
My H&R 12ga. For some reason they decided to attach this awesome looking fiddleback maple stock on it at the factory. I wish they would have made and attached a matching fore end too...
To me, hunting invokes many different feelings.
The anticipation in planning a hunting trip. The challenge of the hunt itself. Testing one's patience and self reliance.
Fascination with the game animals and nature. Being emersed into the cycles of life and death while being a participant in...
It's not a Savage, but this 22/410 Chiappa double badger serves the same function.
I've taken a number of grouse and snowshoe hares with it. They truly are a handy utility/survival gun.
That's a good buy. They are quite valuable over here in the states and have become a sought after collectable. I've seen several going for $430-500 plus depending on the configuration and condition at the last gun show I attended this spring.
I've always been fond of the works by Phillip Goodwin. I know a lot of his art was commercial in nature, but I really like the action it usually portrayed.
Great hunting report. I really felt the emotions you put into the tale. As mentioned, you certainly had a lot of ups and downs.
I really appreciate the honesty of your adventure and thank you for sharing it with us. I really enjoyed it.
Great hunting report. I really enjoyed reading it. Thanks for sharing your short adventure with us.
I always appreciate the nostalgia you bring to the forum with your writings and comments.
Great write up and fantastic animals.
That looked like a wonderful trip. Spending time with your friends there made it all the more special I'm sure.
Did you hunt for the same species the other times you have visited Spain?
Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
Yes, it's very light. It's also small enough to not get in the way and can still hold most of the items you mentioned.
Here's an older one I have made by the same guy. Its leather and canvas. I use this one often. It's large enough to also hold a pair of light leather or mechanix gloves.
The...
What a great hunting adventure. Your tale had me feeling like I was right there feeling that cold, dreary weather, and had a great visual in my mind of how you spotted that sika thrashing it's antlers in that wallow.
I'm glad you finally got to obtain the experience that was the missing piece...
My first time hunting with my new CZ 550 FS, I was walking into my stand in the predawn morning and I was wearing a new Duluth style back pack as well.
After getting settled in for the day it was a while before sun light slowly made it's presence known. As I was admiring my new gun in the early...
