Have CVA CASCADE XT Hillside 450bm bolt action rifle. Rifle 3 shot groups @ 100yds with BearCreekBallistics.com 240HV ammo is .5-.75". At 200yds 1.25" group. At 300yds 1.75-2.0" group. With 22" bbl ammo is 2560fps at muzzle. Trigger at 2#. 100yd zero, 200yds +2.5moa, at 300yds +7 moa temp 60*F...
I do ladder tests and then seating depth to find most accurate repeatable 3 shot groups at 100 and 300yds. Shoot f class matches to 1000yds. Quickload helps but the barrel tells you what it likes for bullet brand and weight. Practice improves shot placement with a good load. We all want an...
My custom 375ruger 26" shilen select match ss bbl likes 82.5gr Hyb100v with barnes 250gr ttsx at 2900fps 0.75moa at 100yds and 300yds. Also likes factory Hornady 250gr CX ammo. Took Maine bull Moose hunting but didn't get a shot opportunity.
I talked to Barnes ballistician and he gave me load data for 375ruger 250ttsx. He said it will work reliably on cape buffalo no need for 300gr or 270gr unless my rifle shot them more accurately. He said PG or DG 250ttsx will get it done if I do my part.
I shoot f class in competition to 1200 yds. Not advocating PG past 300yds but ttsx or gmx ammo is more readily available and good ammo for trigger time. 308win with 168ttsx for PG and American Hunter ammo to practice at 300yds. Don't need 270 max horsepower when you have 308 accuracy.
This would be easy on your shoulder and not fatigue you. Also very accurate. With Barnes bullets or GMX will handle all of PG animals.

Why not rebarrel it for 300prc 8 twist shilen select match ratchet ss bbl in 24 or 26" length then it would be a tack driver for anything in North America. Brass and bullets available.
Athlon for 2021 has Ares ETR UHD 1-10×24MM scope in ffp but has ultra high def glass ($999) vs the Helos BTR gen2 1-10×28mm scope in sfp with xpl coated glass ($499). Both are 34mm tubes and illuminated moa reticle. Is ffp not recommended vs sfp? Reticles similar. Better glass in ffp vs sfp with...
