Thanks to both of you , I really do appreciate the options you mentioned. Right now I think I will give my tannery a bit more time to locate those missing horn sheaths before I decide on any options . I did not know about Lolli Bros auctions and I will certainly check them out. Those few...

    Lost Trophy Common Reedbuck horns

Hi all, I was hoping some of the S. African or other taxidermists checking this site could provide some suggestions or solutions for my situation. I have a small taxidermy business (Busheveld Taxidermy, LLC) in Tucson, Arizona and prefer to mount African plains game. It basically pays for my...

Spot and Stalk for Bushbuck and Nyala in South Africa

Mallard14, I hunted hard on foot for a nice bushbuck this July-Aug along the Limpopo River for better than 8 days and although I saw many and had a number of opportunities, I did not connect on shooting one with my bow. I did discover one thing though, we found that a slow push by a tracker...

    Almost there!

Phil, Thanks, I reside just North of Tucson. If I was using a rifle I probably could have had a nice 17" ram after 30 minutes of hunting. It just gives me something to strive for on a future trip and it will be that much sweeter.

Well, I'm back from our hunt and it was very cool. I hunted hard for Bushbuck and had a number of opportunities but just could not close the deal on a good ram. Evan Sloan at Choronga worked very hard to give me every chance, but in the end I was humbled by Mr. Bushbuck. Working the thicket...

    2nd bow for Africa trip?

My Boy Scout side tells me to be prepared and take a second bow, my rational side says I did that last time and it was not needed; since other bows are available where I will be hunting and I am usually quick to get zero'ed in with new equipment. I sure hope I do not have to eat crow on this...

    Almost there!

Well, in about 48 hrs we will be on a plane heading to JNB for our huntin in the Limpopo. Not being able to sleep, the sheep I'm counting have morphed into tall horned bushbuck sifting in and out through the riparian thickets. Will fill in on our group's adventures soon.

Best techniques for arrowing a Bushbuck?

I just wanted to ask those of you who hunted them regularly if you could give me some advice around their habits. Here are a number of questions which might help me. If you can think of anything else that is most relevant, please add-on. -Do they herd up at all or are they mostly...

Bowhunting in Ethiopia a modern bowhunter's first...

I concur those are fine trophies to get. I am excited for you going back.... maybe this time for your Mt Nyala? That would certainly be an awesome trophy with a bow. It's a dream of mine for sure.

I must say it looks more like a Lappet face vulture than a fish eagle which has a white tail and white feathered head.

Best techniques for arrowing a Bushbuck?

Thanks to all for your input. I do like the idea of setting up some trail cameras to locate the ram I would be interested in hunting per each available area and set up some tree stands. My outfitter has suggested doing some drives in the area which has been successful in the past. However, I...

Is the PH legally required to be in hide in South Africa?

All good points that have been made and it is stated in the bylaws. Of course, real life decisions around this are going to vary by individual preference and comfort levels of both PH and client. Personally, I really enjoy being a solitary hunter, especially when hunting from a blind and...

Best techniques for arrowing a Bushbuck?

I'm interested in hearing from those experienced with bushbuck hunts about what techniques were favored. Especially on the ground stalking, setting up drives, etc. I plan to be right in the Limpopo River thickets on this hunt. A couple other questions: When is their rut and do they ever...

    Slick Tricks whistle !!!!

Gerhard, that was clever! I agree the Slicktrick is a fearsome BH and has the structure to withstand major punishment with that steel ferule. I will be bringing these along with me to Limpopo this Summer, but wanted to ask if when you reviewed the Razortricks did you use 125gr as well? My...

    Favorite broadheads?!?!

Tried many, but I'm taking 125gr Thundered & Slicktricks with me again this summer in the Limpopo. Always good results and always scary Sharp, plus I have dozens of them to use. Slicks fly a bit better than THs for me though.
